Billy Eichner’s ‘Bros’ Releases Hilariously Queer Trailer

Bros Billy Eichner

Billy Eichner and Nicholas Stoller’s new queer rom-com, Bros, has released it’s first trailer. It looks like it’ll be a delightfully fun comedy with plenty of LGBTQ+ community in-jokes.

Bros will follow Eichner’s character, Bobby Lieber, who has been assigned with writing a gay rom-com that will appeal to both the LGBTQ+ community and straight people alike. The trailer seems to indicate that this will be a bit of a struggle, because our stories can’t always be sanitized for heterosexual comfort. This is a rather deep topic for a rom-com for sure, but the trailer feels like it’s somehow found a balance between that and the comedy side of it all. Whether or not that balance from the trailer will carry over into the film remains to be seen. I’m looking forward to finding out!

Bros won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I can tell that already. For some, it might be a bit too crude, but honestly, that’s totally my jam. Our community isn’t always shiny and happy and united. Sometimes we disagree. These disagreements will play out through a rom-com about writing a rom-com. That sounds delightful to me! Your mileage may vary.

Billy Eichner has been a favorite of mine for years. He doesn’t seem to have a filter, and sometimes that can ruffle some feathers. But that was one of the best aspects of his series Billy on the Street, honestly. Tossing a sarcastic gay man on the streets of New York City to interview people about absurd topics is peak comedy. He’s a great choice of a writer and actor to smack the specter of respectability politics in the face. I’m totally here for it.

Bros has an awesome cast of notable queer actors, including, Luke Macfarlane, Jim Rash, Bowen Yang, Guillermo Díaz, Ts Madison, and many more.

The film will hit theaters on September 30, 2022.

  1. You are definitely correct Angel Wilson, it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I wasn’t interested in Q-Force and I am not interested in this. I am not interested in any crude or vulgar humour. In the past I would have been annoyed but I have finally learned to move along and ignore these shows.
