The official cast of 14 contestants has been revealed for the upcoming season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17. Yup! You read that right, the OG reality-competition series is ready to be 17 seasons strong and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon!

The 17th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race will air on MTV come January 3, 2025. Talk about ringing in the New Year with a very queer show. I’m here for it!

The 14 contestants will be competing to be crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar along with receiving a $200,000 grand prize. The ‘Rate-A-Queen’ system will return after debuting during last year’s season 16 (I’m very ‘Meh!’ about it). However, there will also be… drumroll… an entirely new twist! Gasp! (insert eyeroll)

The main show, consisting of 90-minute long episodes, will be followed by the RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked aftershow to share a sneak peek at what the Queens are up to while the judges deliberate.

Let’s go over the 14 competitors!

We have the “aspiring country star” Acacia Forgot, Arrietty (the drag daughter of Irene Dubois from season 15), “pageant princess” Crystal Envy, Hormona Lisa who is “inspired by Disney princesses and vintage screen sirens”, the self-described “ditzy clumsy bimbo” Jewels Sparkles, the “Slaysian Diva” Joella, Kori King (the drag sister of Plane Jane from season 16), Lana Ja’Rae (the drag daughter of Luxx Noir London from season 15), Lexi Love, Lucky Starzzz, Lydia B Kollins, Onya Nurve, Sam Star (the drag daughter of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star season 4 winner Trinity The Tuck), and tap dancer Suzie Toot.

You can get to learn more about these Queens by watching the video below!

I do plan to cover the upcoming 17th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race via episodic reaction and review videos over on The Geekiary YouTube channel. So, do consider subscribing if you haven’t already.

Currently, I’m covering Drag Race Thailand season 3, Canada’s Drag Race season 5, Drag Race Down Under season 4, and Drag Race Espana season 4.

Are you already a fan of the new batch of contestants? Who do you think will win?

Let us know.
