Get ready demigods! The Sea of Monsters is calling. Yesterday at their panel in San Diego Comic-Con’s famous Hall H, Percy Jackson and the Olympians dropped their season 2 trailer and release date.

The panel featured much of the show’s main cast – Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue) and Daniel Diemer (Tyson) – alongside executive producers Jonathan E. Steinberg, Dan Shotz and Craig Silverstein. Fans were treated to a sneak peek of the upcoming season, including the first teaser trailer.

Season 2 of the Disney+ hit series is based on the second book in the best-selling series by Rick Riordan. The Sea of Monsters follows Percy, Annabeth, and Grover as they go on yet another quest. This time, they must journey through the treacherous titular sea in order to retrieve the Golden Fleece, the only item that can restore Camp Half-blood’s all-too-important protective border.

The trailer gives us our first glimpse of the fan-favorite Tyson, Percy’s cyclops half-brother. There are also some more hints about Grover’s multi-book search for the elusive nature god Pan, who if you remember from the first season has been missing for years. But the main focus is on the growing power of Kronos’s army, aided by the turncoat Luke.

And, of course, there is a cute scene featuring Percabeth (Percy/Annabeth), which is so teenager I felt it in my bones.

Riordan announced at the panel, via special video message, that the second season would debut on Disney+ on December 10, 2025. You had better believe I’ll be tuning in!

Riordan also revealed that casting had completed for two highly-anticipated characters: Nico di Angelo and his sister Bianca, children of Hades. Both characters make their first appearance in season 3. Levi Chrisopulos (Nico) will join the series as a regular, while Olive Abercrombie (Bianca) will appear in a recurring role. Production on season 3 allegedly starts “soon”.

I never got around to re-reading the series before season 1, so this is the kick in the butt I need to get it done before season 2. The Sea of Monsters is a great book (they’re all great books), and I’m excited to see how they do some of the more iconic scenes. Plus, I can’t wait to see Percy and Tyson’s relationship on screen.

However, I’ll admit that I’m ridiculously excited for the introduction of Nico. He’s one of my favorite characters, and has starred in his own spinoff book series. Yeah, it’s not until season 3, but still.

If you happen to be at SDCC this weekend, make sure you check out “The Percy Jackson Experience”, an immersive experience located directly outside the convention center. Open to the public (aka no badge required), the offsite takes fans “beyond the myst” and on their own mythological quest.
