AMC Has Renewed “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” For Fourth and Final Season!

The live-action The Walking Dead spin-off, TWD: Daryl Dixon, has been renewed for a fourth and final season by AMC. The narrative follows Daryl and Carol’s journey back to the USA. So, hopefully, they’re able to do just that.
The announcement about renewing the show and concluding it with a fourth and final season was shared during the series’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The last chapter will consist of eight episodes starring Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier. Production is planned to begin this month in Spain.
The Hall H panel also included promotional content for the show’s upcoming third season that is set to debut come September 7, 2025, on AMC+ and AMC. Fans were treated to the official trailer for the third chapter. The panel consisted of Reedus and McBride along with showrunner David Zabel, executive producer Scott M. Gimple, and executive producer Greg Nicotero.
Reedus shared his appreciation for being able to play like Daryl Dixon and the fan support over the decades. According to Reedus, the finale isn’t just an ending, but a celebration of what the creatives and the fandom have shared together.
McBride shared similar sentiments and talked about how excited she was for fans to see how the story will unfold in “incredible locations.”
The first season of TWD: Daryl Dixon premiered back in September 2023. It focused on Daryl’s journey through France. The narrative involved a bunch of nuns and a young boy believed to be the Messiah. The second season, having premiered in September 2024, brought back Carol as she tried to reunite with Daryl. The finale of the second season had the two leaving France for England together. However, as you can see from the trailer, disaster strikes, turning the iconic zombie-apocalypse survivors toward Spain.
As for the ratings, the first season premiere saw a live viewership of 0.63 million. The season remained consistent throughout the six episodes, with the finale garnering 0.68 million live views. Talking about the second season, it opened with 0.57 million views and ended at around 0.47 million views with the sixth episode. While those aren’t great numbers, the TWD franchise has been on a downward track for years. So, it’s understandable.
In contrast, the spin-off starring Negan and Maggie, titled TWD: Dead City, saw the second season open with a mere 0.37 million viewers and end with episode eight (aired on June 22, 2025) with only 0.37 million.
Frankly, I enjoyed watching TWD: Daryl Dixon more than TWD: Dead City. So, I am kind of interested in seeing what the third season has planned for fans and how it will lay the groundwork for the fourth and final chapter. I do feel Daryl and Carol will have a happy ending, all things considered.
Of course, Tara, Bekah, and I plan to cover the show on our The Bitching Dead webcast over on The Geekiary YouTube channel. Do consider subscribing to The Geekiary YouTube and following us on our The Bitching Dead Facebook Page to know when we will air live.
