Scary “Halloween” Trailer Reunites Laurie Strode and Michael Myers!

The trailer for the new Halloween film has been released by Blumhouse Productions. Serving as a direct sequel to original (released in 1978), it brings Micheal Myers back in Laure Strode’s life. Being a fan of horror, I am so ready!

The Halloween trailer tells us where Laurie and Michael are in life 40 years after the events of their first encounter. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode with Nick Castle coming back as the serial killer. Laurie has been ready for Michael to come back and it will be interesting to see how the fight between the two ends.

Actress Judy Geer has been cast as Laurie’s daughter Karen Strode while Andi Matichak will play Laure’s granddaughter Allyson. The upcoming film has been directed by David Gordon Green who also co-wrote it with Danny McBride.

Fans of the franchise are definitely going to notice how Halloween ignores the numerous sequels and reboots. Laurie and Michael aren’t even related anymore.

Well, there seems to be a good reason for such changes.

“We were trying to come up with what our take would be and really just found an original path that more or less takes the first one as our reality,” David Gordon Green told ComingSoon. “[That film] kind of sets the tone for our story or history and then we jumped 40 years into the future and we see how the world today responds to, was affected by, how we meet our characters in a different phase of their life under the reality of this traumatic event and have to come to terms with some of these issues.”

Danny McBride talked about Laurie and Michael’s relationship. “I was pushing for that removal right off the bat, I just felt like that was an area where he wasn’t quite as scary anymore, it seemed too personalized. I wasn’t as afraid of Michael Myers anymore because I’m not his fucking brother, so he’s not coming after me. Also, you’ve seen it, so wouldn’t it be interesting just to see what would happen if it wasn’t that, and what does that open up for us if it wasn’t this random killing that has affected this character, so it just seemed like new territory.”

The movie will have some Easter Eggs for the previous installments in the franchise, though.

Halloween will be released on October 19, 2018.
