Genndy Tartakovsky’s “Primal: The Complete First Season” Gets Blu-ray and DVD Release This June!

Fans of Adult Swim’s popular prehistoric animated series Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal can look forward to owning the complete first season on Blu-ray and DVD come June 1, 2021.

From Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Primal: The Complete First Season contains all 10 episodes as well as behind-the-scenes interviews. The show recently won 3 Juried Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Animation. The upcoming home release is priced at $24.98 SRP for the DVD ($30.99 in Canada) and $29.98 SRP for the Blu-ray ($39.99 in Canada). The Blu-ray includes a Digital Copy (the U.S. only). The entire first season can currently be purchased on Digital via digital retailers. 

The official description reads:

Coming off an award-winning final season of “Samurai Jack,” Adult Swim reunites with creator Genndy Tartakovsky on a new animated series. “Primal” features a caveman at the dawn of evolution. A dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world.

The 10 Episodes are:

1. Spear and Fang
2. River of Snakes
3. A Cold Death
4. Terror Under the Blood Moon
5. Rage of the Ape-Men
6. Scent of Prey
7. Plague of Madness
8. Coven of the Damned
9. The Night Feeder
10. Slave of the Scorpion

The approximate runtime of the home release is 220 minutes. The extra content is approximately 10 minutes long. 

The original airdate for the premiere was October 9, 2019. After the fifth episode being shown on October 12, 2019, the series returned with episode 6 a year later on October 4, 2020. The tenth episode debuted on November 1, 2020. The series has been renewed for a second season.

As of writing this, the first season holds a 100% Critic Rating over at Rotten Tomatoes with the Audience Score coming in at 99%. The animated series has been praised for the action sequences while featuring a deeply emotional narrative.
