Fandom Trumps Hate 2025 Raises Record Donations for Progressive Nonprofits

Fandom Trumps Hate, an annual fandom auction, shattered their previous record for donations in 2025.
While there is a lot of bleakness in the current state of the world, Fandom Trumps Hate has allowed fans to come together to raise money for a variety of progressive nonprofit organizations with the help of fanworks since its inception in 2017. This year, the auction and subsequent donations raised over $120,000, shattering last year’s record of over $67,000.
The initial auction was created in response to the 2016 presidential election and has remained a fixture ever since. Open to all kinds of creations from all fandoms, winning bidders can have fanworks created for them in exchange for a donation equaling the amount of their winning bid. The auction and applying creators don’t receive these funds themselves, making the fanworks created not a traditional commission.
Each year, Fandom Trumps Hate compiles a list of nonprofits for donations. These nonprofits cover a wide variety of issues domestic and abroad. This year’s auction included a list of fifteen organizations, with the flexibility to request donations to a local organization or other cause that fits Fandom Trumps Hate’s goal to make the world a better place.
Of the recipients of this year’s donations, three organizations received donations of over $10,000 and additional donations to local LGBTQ+ organizations also exceeded $10,000. Hope For Ukraine, Middle East Children’s Alliance, and Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights were the biggest recipients, but every organization on the list received at least $2,000 from the auction.
In the years since Fandom Trumps Hate launched, a variety of fandom auctions, many for a single fandom or raising funds for a specific issue, have also formed to combine the powers of fandom and activism. Fandom Trumps Hate remains the most prominent one due to its multi-fandom inclusivity and has resources available on their Tumblr page for anyone looking to create their auction. This year, Fandom Trumps Hate launched FTH Action, an initiative to help encourage activism year-round.
Despite the deluge of bad news on multiple fronts, it is still heartening to see fandom come together to try to take steps to improve the state of the world. While Fandom Trumps Hate and its participants can’t solve all the problems single-handedly, the avenue to help fans use their fandoms to help support organizations doing good work has allowed Fandom Trumps Hate to remain a positive force in fandom activism throughout the years.
