Quarantined at home? Have access to stream Cats on Amazon Prime or another platform? Then come join us!
Cats, which was described by Justin Cheng at the Los Angeles Times as “a horror and an endurance test, a dispatch from some neon-drenched netherworld where the ghastly is inextricable from the tedious,” is now available for all your quarantined entertainment needs.
But this abomination is best enjoyed with friends and, well, that’s a bit hard right now since a lot of us are locked down tight in our homes. So let’s get together in a virtual space and experience this monstrosity together!
WHAT: Livestreaming Cats with The Geekiary
WHEN: Saturday March 21st, 2020 – 8 pm Eastern/5 pm Pacific
HOW: You can live stream Cats on a platform of your choice ( Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play ) and then join our live stream to chat about the experience in the chat box of our stream.
WHERE: We will post the link to the stream on Facebook and Twitter, so if you aren’t following in either place, head on over! We will even add the link to this post at some point, but it’ll likely get blasted out on social media first.
WHY???: Because QUARANTINE.
NO SERIOUSLY WHY???: Because WE ARE BORED!
If you’ve never participated in one of our watch parties before, here’s some ground rules:
- We will countdown from 3 and hit play together so we are all roughly at the same part of the film at the same time.
- No spoilers! Though honestly, the plot was described by Leah Greenblatt at Entertainment Weekly as “could be written on a slip of blotter acid” so we doubt any plot details could really ruin the experience.
- Try to generally follow the commenting policy rules of our website, but we confess we may drop some profanity so we’ll be a bit lax on that front. Expect lots of “what the F*%#” in the stream. We’re sorry!
- Intoxication is welcome. We will be imbibing. It seems the best way to enjoy this thing (see Seth Rogen tweet below). So feel free to show up tipsy if you are so inclined.
Some cats in pants. Some no pants.

Want to get a taste for what you’re in for? Check out Farid’s trailer reaction. It really lays the groundwork for the bizarre experience.
See you Saturday!
UPDATE: Here’s our show…
