San Diego Comic-Con is quickly approaching and we’ve got some news! Funko will be holding a panel in Hall H with Rosario Dawson, Simu Liu, and William Zabka and more.
Funko is a highlight of San Diego Comic-Con for many fans. Besides their incredibly popular booth that always has an enormous line, they also have the Funko Fundays party, which will take place on Friday July 22nd this year. This year they’ll be hosting a panel in Hall H called Pop! Talk with Rosario Dawson, Simu Liu, and William Zabka. The press release also implies there will be more, so prepare for surprise guests!
This Funko news comes just a day after it was announced that they’ve purchased Mondo, a high-end pop-culture collectibles vendor. Mondo makes vinyl records and soundtracks, posters, toys, apparel, books, games and many other collectibles. Both companies have been highly popular for collectors attending SDCC.
Needless to say, it’s a huge year for Funko and that is being reflected in their presence at the con. Their booth, which is dubbed ‘Funkoville,’ will feature “the remarkable Funko neighborhood, featuring a movie theater, grocery store, diner, Loungefly boutique, and Mondo store.” This will mark the first public outing of Mondo after the Funko Acquisition. I suspect this booth will be more competitive than ever before.
“After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, we are thrilled to be back at San Diego Comic-Con with a presence that’s bigger than ever before,” said Andrew Perlmutter, Chief Executive Officer of Funko in a press release. “Always engineering new and exciting in-person experiences, ‘Funkoville’ is the perfect opportunity to fully immerse our fans in a Funko-inspired world that brings together everything they love about our brand product exclusives, celebrities, and more.”
San Diego Comic-Con will take place from July 21st to the 24th, with a preview night on the 20th.
Funkoville will be located at Booth #5341, Booth #5137, Booth #5145.
