“Resident Evil: Village – Gold Edition” Adds Rose Winters Expansion, Third-Person Mode and More!
Players looking forward to new content meant for the Resident Evil: Village (Resident Evil 8) video game title have a lot to be excited about. The upcoming Resident Evil: Village – Gold Edition comes with a new DLC, new The Mercenaries characters, and more!
Releasing on October 28, 2022, the biggest thing about the RE: Village – Gold Edition, in my opinion, has got to be the Winters’ Expansion DLC which features Rose Winters, the daughter of Ethan Winters, trying to get rid of her supernatural powers. The story, called ‘Shadows of Rose’, will be set 16 years after the events of RE Village.
What’s interesting is that, unlike the original game, the Winters’ Expansion DLC will be in third-person view. I don’t know about you, but I’m a fan of third-person games. So, having the DLC be like that is much appreciated. I get that a first-person view is supposed to help gamers feel more engaged, especially while playing horror titles. But I like what I like.
According to the trailer, you, as Rose, will move through familiar RE Village locations to try and learn more about Rose’s past and if getting rid of her mysterious powers is even possible. I’m into the dreamscape vibe of the environment. The ‘other’ version of Rose reminds me of what Natalia went through during Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
Along with the Rose-centric DLC, the Winters’ Expansion will also include a third-person mode for the main RE 8 game. While I did play RE 8 in first-person view (you can read my review here), I am looking forward to replaying the entire thing in third-person mode.
As for RE Village‘s The Mercenaries mode, newly playable characters include Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and fan-favorite Lady Dimitrescu.
Not only that but the previously announced Resident Evil Re: Verse will also launch on the same date. I’m not really sure how Resident Evil Re: Verse will be recieved by the fandom. I haven’t been seeing a lot of hype for it. Time will tell.
Are you excited about playing Resident Evil: Village – Gold Edition?
I sure am!
