Amazon Prime Video Panels & Offsite at SDCC 2019

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is hitting this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in a big way. With a bunch of panels featuring A-list actors, a 60,000 square foot activation, and some pretty nifty parties, the streaming giant is rolling out the big guns.

Amazon Prime Video has been a presence at SDCC for the past couple of years, ever since they jumped on the original content bandwagon. Last year’s Jack Ryan Experience was extremely popular, and this year they’re looking to top that with a giant, immersive activation highlighting three of their shows – upcoming The Boys and Carnival Row and the fourth season of newly-acquired The Expanse. Those three shows are the themes behind Amazon Prime’s three SDCC parties. There will also be panels for those three shows plus Undone and The Man in the High Castle.

Amazon Prime Video Experience

Open all four days of the convention (July 18-July 21), the Amazon Prime Video Experience will be located at the corner of MLK & 1st. A 40-foot tower with LED screens will sit outside, showing clips from the three featured shows, and live, show-specific performances will take place on top.

Inside the activation, fans will receive collectible gold and silver coins, which they can then use to explore the different areas. Start by covering up the crime scene of a superhero kidnapping at the Audio Visual shop where Hughie works on The Boys. Join the Rocinante on a United Nations peace-keeping mission to a newly colonized planet from The Expanse. Discover the world of Carnival Row, where humans and exotic creatures coexist, and enter the Forbidden Lounge, a neo-Victorian hideaway venue, to enjoy a special performance.

After exploring the activation, take a moment to relax under a tented awning with drinks and a selection of food, including Carl’s Jr., which will provided burgers to attendees as part of The Boys campaign. Cosplayers may also want to check out Cosplay Photography Corner, where a professional onsite photography will take digital portraits.
