New “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” Trailer Drops: I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying
With approximately one month until its premiere date, Disney+ has dropped a new trailer for its highly-anticipated Percy Jackson and the Olympians live-action series.
This second trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians is almost a full minute longer than the last one we got, which dropped in September, and while some of the scenes are the same, there is plenty of new stuff being teased.

The quest is important, but now we have the information that Camp Half-Blood quests are always undertaken by three people, which of course in this case is Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri). They are charged with retrieving Zeus’s master lightning bolt – the bolt that makes all other lightning bolts – and returning it to Olympus.
We’re seeing more of the camp and the other campers, including a brief look at Percy and Clarisse sparring during Capture the Flag. (By the way, they showed us this scene at the New York Comic Con panel and it looks unbelievable. I am so exicted.) We also get our first glimpses of Luke (Charlie Bushnell), Hermes (Lin-Manuel Miranda), Poseidon (Toby Stephens), Medusa (Jessica Parker Kennedy), and Cerberus.
I also love how they’re still using the same version of “Riptide”. I’m just really a huge fan of this cover.
And I feel like this trailer showcases more humor than the previous ones have, which I appreciate. It’s nice to know that the show intends to keep the tone of the books, which can be very heavy but also pretty funny. Percy is a twelve-year-old kid thrust into an impossible situation. He’s going to be a smart mouth about it.
I know I’ve said it before, but I’m really excited for this series. I love the look of everything – the sets, the costumes, the effects. You can tell from the trailer that this show was crafted by people who are fans of the books and want to do their best to give us an amazing show.
The two-episode premiere of Percy Jackson and the Olympians airs on December 20 on Disney+.
Created by Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is executive produced by Steinberg and Dan Shotz alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson.
