While Capcom has been trying to keep information about Resident Evil 7 under wraps, new details regarding the upcoming game have been revealed by the ESRB. Check them out!
The premature listing by the Entertainment Software Rating Board mentioned the plot for Resident Evil 7, the weapons that will be available, and some other interesting details. The listing has since been removed. ESRB commented that Capcom had requested the removal.
According to the description, players will take on the role of Ethan who goes to search for his wife in a neglected mansion. Ethan’s name was also mentioned in the creepy Resident Evil 7 gameplay trailer shown during Gamescom 2016.
As far as weapons are concerned players will be able to use pistols, flamethrowers, shotguns, explosives, and chainsaws. I’m actually happy about such weapons being part of the installment because I thought R.E 7 was going to focus more on defensive gameplay judging by the playable demo. At lease with a flamethrower I’ll be able to do some real damage in the game.
The ESRB description also mentions a lot of gore and violence which makes sense considering it’s an installment in the R.E franchise. As far as the first-person perspective goes, Capcom will have to wait until the game’s release to see how it is received by the new and old fans of the series.
While the current plot is a continuation of the main series, Capcom has said that staple characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, etc. are likely not to return. VR is also optional when playing the game.
Resident Evil 7 will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC on the 24th of January, 2016.
