With Storm fans enjoying Ororo currently starring in her solo series while also being part of the current Avengers title, they now have a one-shot to look forward to as well. Storm: Lifedream will debut come January 29, 2025!

The upcoming one-shot is part of the Black History Month spotlight via Marvel’s Voices anthology. Storm: Lifedream will include stories by Marvel’s Voices creator Angelique Roche, Curtis Baxter, Brittney Morris, John Jennings, Karen S. Darboe, Edwin Galmon, and more. The creative team will be working together to honor Ororo Munroe’s rich history just in time for her 50th Anniversary.

The premise of the one-shot is an interesting look at Storm’s most iconic eras. Apparantly, intergalactic historians will attempt to update their records on Storm. However, they will soon find out that they are dealing with a woman who is too powerful to contain. There’s also a risk of unleashing a side of Storm that no one’s ever seen before. Not only that but there’s also a malevolent entity ready to threaten to corrupt the Weather Goddess’ legacy.

As a fan of Storm, I’m so here for the push Marvel Comics has been giving her. The Storm solo comic by writer Murewa Ayodele had a spectacular debut. As for her joining the Avengers, I have to say I wasn’t a fan of how writer Jed Mackay handled Ororo joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. I understood why she was asked to be on the team, but the promotional material made me expect something else. With the storyline involving Hyperion coming to Earth, the cover art and marketing text were about Storm playing a role in stopping him. But when I read through the issue, Ororo and Hyperion didn’t even cross paths. It was so disappointing.

Having said that, I do feel that Avengers issue 19 was a lot better. It had the Avengers having a conversation with Doctor Doom about what it meant to be a hero and how one, when given tremendous power, should protect the planet. I enjoyed seeing Ororo getting tired of Doom’s speech and deciding to eliminate his minions in one move while making it clear that she and the rest of the team didn’t support Doom’s notions.

As for Ororo having a conversation with T’Challa. Well, the Black Panther decided to avoid the situation by going on a solo mission. Ha!

Coming back to Doom, take note that this isn’t the last Ororo will have to deal with Doom. He will be reaching out to talk to her again in Storm issue 4.

Sigh! Back off, Doom. Back off!

Along with the handful of comic books, Storm will also be featured in the upcoming title Marvel’s Storm: Disaster Alert! (National Geographic Kids Readers, Level 1). Planned for a July 1, 2025 release, it will show Storm and her superpowered friends introduce kids to the basics of extreme weather and natural disasters.

The Storm fandom is eating good and I couldn’t be happier!
