Spin Master’s SwimWays Line Features “Wednesday” and “Spider-Man” – Review

SwimWays 2025 Spin Master Spider-Man Wednesday
Spider-Man and Wednesday offerings from SwimWays

Summer means spending time at the pool, and what’s more fun than having playful pool sessions or simply lounging surrounded by the IPs you like? Spin Master’s SwimWays line includes items covering Wednesday, Spider-Man, Barbie, and more. I got to test a couple of them and now I’m here to share my thoughts!

The SwimWays products featured in this article were sent to me for free for review by Spin Master. The opinions I have shared are my own.

I was sent three items. The licensed Spider-Man products were the ‘Spidey Dive and Surprise’ and the ‘Spidey Airboat’. The Wednesday product was the pool float. Let’s begin by talking about the Spider-Man stuff.

Spidey Dive and Surprise

This toy involves you allowing the Spider-Man-themed red shell to fall to the bottom of the pool and letting it fill up with water to open and allow a tiny Spider-Man figure to float to the surface.

The plastic shell is approximately 5 inches tall. The hinge at the bottom lets the shell open to house an approximately 4-inch-tall Spidey figure. You don’t have to use this toy in a pool to play with it, but that’s what it’s meant for, and for good reason. I did try it out in the bathtub. It worked, but for me, the fun factor is enhanced when the figure takes a bit more time to get to the surface in a deep pool instead of a traditional bathtub.

Even though Spider-Man is wearing his usual costume, he does have web-made flippers to go with the aquatic theme. The well-detailed design reminded me of the web-slinger’s olden days, when he was more into creating constructs (parachutes and shields) out of his webs instead of simply web-swinging around the city.

Costing you around $14.99, you can find the Spider-Man Dive and Surprise toy at Target.

Spidey Air Boat

While fully functional in swimming pools and bathtubs, I couldn’t help but smile every time I used the Spider Air Boat because of how it operated. You get a themed red and blue boat with Spider-Man (just his head) behind the wheel. Using the pump at the back of the boat, you are to fill Spidey’s head with air. The more air you pump, the larger the head gets. It’s hilarious!

Make sure the knob in the back (above the pump handle) is pointed to the right to keep the air inside the head. Pointing it to the left will begin releasing the air. You’re supposed to set the knob to the left when you’re ready to let the air boat travel across the water surface or you want to simply deflate the head.

The boat’s got a good speed to it. And it will keep going until Spidey’s head is back to normal.

The only downside to this toy deals with how my intrusive thoughts wanted me to keep pumping the head until it popped! So, yeah, try to stop yourself from doing that. Also, refrain from keeping it on your desk to fidget with the pump while you watch YouTube.

For $12.99, you can find the Spidey Air Boat at Target.

Suntanner “Wednesday” Pool Float

With the playful stuff out of the way, it’s time to be a bit goth and relax on the Wednesday pool float. Who says you can’t tap into some emo vibes at the pool while being geeky?

Sticking to the live-action show’s vibe, the box has a lot of purple with the front showcasing the black and white suntanner float next to a human model giving her best Wednesday Addams impression. I like how the front and the back of the box show you exactly what you’ll be getting.

The back also has the dimensions of the float. It is around 5.8 feet long and 1.9 feet wide. The float also also a headrest as well as a footrest.

The design on the float features a black coffin against a white background. Wednesday’s name is at the top of the coffin. The bottom and the top two corners feature black roses. The coffin also features details that resemble spiderweb and bat wings. Other design details include a black heart along with a white moon and sun. It doesn’t instantly scream Netflix’s Wednesday if not for the name of the show at the top. And that’s okay.

I like merchandise that can be used to enhance your geeky lifestyle without coming across as too IP-centric.

The float can support a maximum of 113 kg. It also comes with a small sticky sheet that can be used to patch the suntanner in case of a leak or two. So, that’s nice.

As for using the float, I was able to inflate it quickly. The length was suitable for my height and weight. However, take note that this suntanner pool float wasn’t large enough to keep me fully out of the water while I lounged, especially with how it became slimmer as you made your way down the headrest. So, be open about your leg or an arm being in the water as you float around.

Retailing in the MSRP $14.99 – $16.99 price tag, you can find the Wednesday Suntanner Pool Float at Target and Amazon.
