Halle Berry & Mark Wahlberg Starring In “Our Man From Jersey” For Netflix
Halle Berry is staying booked and busy over at Netflix. The Oscar winner has signed on to co-star in Our Man from New Jersey with actor Mark Wahlberg.
According to Variety, Our Man from New Jersey is being promoted as a spy movie, described as “a blue-collar James Bond”. Details about the plot and Berry’s role are currently under wraps. The film will be produced by Wahlberg. The script is from David Guggenheim (Safe House, Designated Survivor).
This project has Wahlberg working alongside his producing partner Stephen Levinson (who also gave the idea the script’s based on). The two produced the action-comedy film Spenser Confidential for Netflix. It premiered back in March of 2020.
Berry has done spy movies before. She played Jinx in 007: Die Another Day, Ginger in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Sofia in John Wick 3 – Parabellum. I’m looking forward to the cool action sequences she will be a part of.
Coming to Berry’s other projects for Netflix, her directorial debut Bruised is supposed to release on the streaming service sometime this year. The streaming service is said to have bought the film’s worldwide rights for close to $20 million. It shows Berry playing a mixed martial arts fighter trying to make a comeback after her young son reappears in her life.
Other than that, Berry also signed on to star in the sci-fi movie titled The Mothership. She will play Sara Morse. With her husband mysteriously vanishing a year ago, Sara discovers a strange extraterrestrial object underneath her home. The plot has Sara and her kids embarking on an adventure to figure out the truth about what’s actually happening. Apparently, filming begins in a couple of months.
So, that’s three projects for Berry with Netflix. Her other project is Ronald Emmerich’s sci-fi disaster movie Moonfall. It’s currently in post-production. Due to the current theatrical situation, from what I know, it will likely be released sometime next year. Though I hope we get it by the end of this year. Anyway, I’m excited!
As a WoC in her mid-50s, it’s great to see Berry continuing to star in Hollywood films. Let’s see what other things she signs up to do. I wouldn’t mind having Berry be part of a well-written streaming show. I want to see her do some comedy.
