Star Wars: Bloodline to be Important Franchise Installment
Bloodline, the next Star Wars book by Claudia Gray, is being released on May 3rd, 2016 – and needless to say, the hype is strong with this one.
Warning: Slight spoilers for certain plot points of Star Wars: Bloodline by Claudia Gray, which has yet to be released.
Last month when I attended the Star Wars Books panel at C2E2 I was excited that Claudia Gray, author of Lost Stars (part of the new Star Wars EU), was one of the panelists. Despite the fact that between my birthday and Christmas, I received almost every newly-published Star Wars book (and have devoured most of them since), until C2E2 I wasn’t aware that Gray was writing another one. Of course she wasn’t allowed to tell us much other than that it’s a Princess Leia story, but yesterday the official Star Wars website published an article titled “8 Reasons Star Wars: Bloodline Will Be Essential Reading“…and it revealed quite a bit more about what fans can expect from what is sure to be another great novel by Claudia Gray.
Some of the more important reasons listed in the official article (at least in my opinion) were that readers will learn how and why the Resistance was formed, get hints as to how the First Order came to be, experience some Han and Leia interaction, and find out what Darth Vader (whose head is also on the cover) has to do with the events in Bloodline.
Needless to say, I’m glad that I took notes at that C2E2 panel, because even though Ms. Gray wasn’t able to give us any detailed information, she did admit that one [minor] character from Lost Stars makes an appearance in Bloodline; additionally, she’s a big Mad Max: Fury Road fan and promised a lot of references from that film.
All of that combined with the fact that “some of the story ideas and elements in this novel came straight from Rian Johnson, director of the forthcoming Episode VIII” means I for one am going to pre-order Bloodline as soon as I finish this article. How fine it is to live in a world where we are [once again] consistently receiving new Star Wars novels! (Among so many other amazing things…)
