Titan Manga to Release Paru Itagaki’s “SANDA” Volume 1 in English This September

Titan Manga is all ready to release the English translation of SANDA Volume 1, from Beastars creator Paru Itagaki, on September 2, 2025.

The upcoming September 2, 2025, release of SANDA Volume 1 will accompany the anime adaptation of the manga that is set to premiere sometime this Fall. Yay, to synergy.

The premise of SANDA brings readers to a near-future Japan 2080. The birth rate has dropped so significantly that kids are considered the most precious commodity. To keep the human race going, adolescence has been artificially extended to keep the youth around. Also, holidays, such as Christmas, have faded into myth.

The lead character is Sanda Kazushige, a middle-school student who finds himself in a strange and dangerous mystery. Sanda’s life takes a very dramatic turn after being accused by his classmate, Fuyumura Shiori, of carrying a curse that could aid with finding her missing friend named Ono Ichie. The two then embark on a journey to find the truth behind One Ichie’s disappearance and yes, the narrative leads to uncovering the hidden magic of Christmas itself while testing the characters with challenges involving loyalty, courage, and the power of belief.

Also, Santa… Sanda. You can kind of tell where this is going.

The English version of SANDA Volume 1 by mangaka Paru Itagaki will consist of 208 pages and will retail for $12.99.

The original manga was serialized in Akita Shoten’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Champion from July 2021 to July 2024. The chapters were collected in 16 tankōbon volumes.

The anime adaptation was announced back in July of 2024. The series will be produced by Science Saru. It will be directed by Tomohisa Shimoyama, with Kimiko Ueno supervising and writing the series scripts. Masamichi Ishiyama will serve as the character designer and chief animation director. Tomoyuki Tanaka will compose the music.
