The highly-anticipated stop-motion series Pokémon Concierge has debuted a new trailer. The miniseries will be released on Netflix come December 28, 2023.

I have known about Pokémon Concierge for a while now, but I have to say that the trailer blew all my expectations out of the water. The creative team has struck the perfect balance when it comes to translating the different Pokémon textures to stop-motion animation while showcasing a calm and inviting vibe. I want to live in this world!

The premise of the show is straightforward. It takes place at a fictional resort on a Southern island where Pokémon come to relax. A team of concierges looks after the fantastical creatures. Of course, each Pokémon has specific likes and dislikes. It’s the concierge’s job to figure out how to keep satisfaction levels high.

The narrative will follow newcomer Haru as she learns to care for a variety of guests while discovering new things about herself.

Here’s the adorable trailer!

I’m all for Psyduck being one of the lead Pokémon in the story. Magikarp, Pikachu, and numerous other Pokémon will also appear during the miniseries.

The entire thing kind of reminded me of the ‘Pikachu’s Vacation‘ animated short from 1998 where Pikachu, Togepi, and others get to spend a day at a Pokémon park, but this time we also get to see the humans responsible for running such a place for Pokémon.

Take note; according to Variety, the upcoming series will consist of only four episodes ranging from 14 to 20 minutes. And while I get that they feel not enough, I’ll take what I can get at this point. Hopefully, the success of Pokémon Concierge encourages Netflix to offer more Pokémon-related content featuring different visual styles.

The show has been directed by Iku Ogawa from a screenplay by Harumi Doki. The concept art and character design are by Tadahiro Uesugi. Dwarf Studios handled production. The theme song ‘Have a Good Time Here’ is by Mariya Takeuchi.

The Japanese voice cast includes Non as Haru, Ai Fairouz as Alisa, Eita Okuno as Tyler, and Yoshiko Takemura as Watanabe.

The show’s English voice cast has Karen Fukuhara as Haru, Imani Hakim as Alisa, Josh Keaton as Tyler, and Lori Alan as Watanabe.
