“Digimon Ghost Game” Anime Gets New Trailer Ahead of October Debut!
Digimon fans can look forward to another adventure in the long-running franchise come October 3, 2021. An exciting new trailer has been released for the upcoming Digimon Ghost Game anime series.
While I wasn’t very interested in Digimon Ghost Game when the project was first announced, I’ve been finding myself becoming more intrigued as promo content continues to be released. Even though the latest promo trailer was a bit too short for my liking, I’m looking forward to checking out this anime series (from Toei Animation) early next month.
Our three human leads are Hiro Amanokawa, Ruri Tsukiyono, and Kiyoshiro Higashimitarai. Their Digimon Partners are Gammamon, Angoramon, and Jellymon, respectively. Hiro’s the 13-year-old leader that you can rely on. Ruri is a 13-year-old who likes to socialize and is quite curious by nature. And Kiyoshiro’s a 14-year-old genius who is also a bit of a coward.
As for the personalities of the Digimon Partners, Gammamon is naughty and likes to bite things. Angoramon has a calm and mature personality. Jellymon is competitive and likes to participate in stuff.
One of the things making me excited about this project is how Digimon Ghost Games seems to be the first major Digimon anime series that’s giving one of the male leads a “female” Digimon Partner. I could be wrong, but I don’t think we have ever seen such a pairing before. As someone who has always felt that the human and Digimon Partner pairing shouldn’t be restricted by gender-centric norms, I’m glad that the upcoming series is ready to offer fans such a change.
We have seen female humans be paired with “male” Digimon (depending on the Digimon’s evolutionary line), but unfortunately, things are different in media when it involves a male human character being paired up with something that’s considered feminine in a story primarily meant for young boys.
With Digimon Ghost Game taking such a step, I can’t wait to see Jellymon and Kiyoshiro in action!
Here’s the trailer! The scene where it’s as if the lifeforce of a human being is being sucked away looks creepily intriguing.
According to the promo material, Hiro discovers a mysterious Digivice from his father that allows him to see Digimon. The discovery leads to Hiro and his friends entering an entirely different world to face the threat of strange occurrences called “hologram ghosts”.
The anime is scheduled to premiere on Fuji TV on October 3 at 9:00 a.m. (via Anime News Network)
The cast includes:
- Mutsumi Tamura as Hiro Amanokawa
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Gammamon
- Yu Kobayashi as Ruri Tsukiyono
- Kazuya Nakai as Angoramon
- Akira Ishida as Kiyoshirō Higashimitarai
- Yu Shimamura as Jellymon
You can gain more information about Digimon Ghost Game by visiting the official website. Ghost-type Digimon do exist in the franchise. So, I’m looking forward to seeing how this anime series will explore that part of the Digimon world.
Currently, the Digimon anime franchise is airing Digimon Adventure. I have been enjoying certain aspects of this particular reboot of the original series. Episode 66, which is supposed to be the penultimate episode, will be released on September 19, 2021.
