Geeky Nerdy Stationery at “Pen Heaven” – Review

Geeky Nerdy Products from Pen Heaven

If you’re looking to add some geeky magic to your writing desk, Pen Heaven has the goods you’re looking for.

I was provided with the items reviewed in this post by Pen Heaven for free. The opinions I have shared are my own.

If you have been keeping up with my CultureFly unboxing coverage, you know that I appreciate a nice piece of stationery. So, when Pen Heaven reached out to possibly share some of their products with our readers, I was all ears. Also, it helped that Pen Heaven already had a good range of geeky nerdy items that fit our vibe.

The products I was sent included officially licensed LEGO products, unicorn designs, and colorful inks.

Let’s get to it!

Legami Dream Big Unicorn Desktop Pencil Sharpener

This cute pencil sharpener stands approximately 4 inches tall. The design features a unicorn head and neck with rainbows, flowers, stars, and hearts for added effect. Wanting users to “Dream Big”, it’s very easy to use. You insert the pencil into the unicorn’s nose. Make sure it’s really in there. You will feel it being “held” inside.

Once properly in place, you simply rotate the pink crank to sharpen the pencil. Of course, the shavings are kept inside the device until it’s time for you to open it from the bottom to dispose of the shavings.

The sharpener is stable enough and won’t topple over because of a slight nudge or a random desk shake. I ended up using it a whole lot while working on a couple of art pieces over the weekend. Not once did I get a broken pencil tip.

According to Pen Heaven, it’s suitable for pencils up to 8mm in diameter.

My only gripe would be that the sharpener doesn’t come with a release mechanism. So, yeah, once you are done sharpening the pencil, you kind of have to yank it out of the device.

You can own it for CAD $26.00.

Legami Mini Magic Unicorn Rainbow 4 Color Pen

With a cute little rubber unicorn at the top, this is a mini ballpoint pen with four colors (pink, blue, green, and purple). You simply push down and “click” the color you want and get to writing or drawing. Being a mini pen, it’s not the most comfortable to hold for longer periods, but regardless, the pen does move quite smoothly on paper.

It features a 1.0 mm Writing Tip and will cost you CAD $5.00.

Legami Erasable Gel Pen – Unicorn

With the words “Believe In Magic” on it, this is a very cutely detailed erasable gel pen keeping with the unicorn motif. The cap has a unicorn horn and mane. Like, come on!

Measuring approximately 6 inches in length, it’s a comfortable gel pen to hold. And yes, the ink is pink because why not?

I really enjoyed using this gel pen while jotting down notes over the week. The best part is that the end of the pen has an eraser that actually works. I mean, I’m used to crossing out words if I make a mistake, but it’s still nice to know I can erase a word entirely if I want to.

It can be yours for CAD $4.00.

Legami Kawaii Unicorn 2-in-1 Soft Silicone Pencil Case

Measuring an estimated 8 inches in length, this pencil case has a unicorn face on top with a zipper right under the face for you to open the case to hold pencils, crayons, and such. The zipper has a tag with the words “We Are Dreamers,” while “Believe In Magic” is written on the lower portion of the case, keeping with the line’s mission of promoting creativity in users.

I liked the feel of the silicone. It was quite a sensation for my fingertips, as I am used to holding traditional plastic or cloth pencil cases. I also liked how the case held shape even after squishing it.

The 2-in-1 feature involves how the bottom of the case can be pulled out to act as a pencil case. If pushed in, the bottom becomes flat, allowing you to use the case as a pencil holder on a desk or any other flat surface.

Take note; once unzipped, the head of the unicorn has an elastic band that can be used to store an eraser. I was not expecting that at all. So, points to the design team for that.

You can purchase it for CAD $21.00.

LEGO Stationery Set

This product gives you four pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, and a mini LEGO figure. There’s also a pencil topper that can be used to place the figure on a pencil. The sharpener is your usual fare. The eraser did its job. The middle of the eraser being a LEGO brick was a nice touch.

I also liked how the pencils had numbered circles on them, similar to what you see on LEGO pieces.

I couldn’t find the specific product on the Pen Heaven website. But you can browse other LEGO products if you’re interested, including the pencils and toppers.

LEGO Pencil Box with Minifigure

As the name states, this product gets you a pencil box with a minifigure. The pencil case was white with a couple of LEGO pieces on top for you to build on. I was disappointed that the pencil case was plain inside. I was expecting a compartment or two to help with organizing stationery. Opening the case also wasn’t as easy as I would have liked.

Talking about the minifigure, I was disappointed that it was the same one I got from the stationery set, especially when the product image on the box showed the minifigure wearing blue pants instead of black.

It can be yours for CAD $14.00.

LEGO Locking Black Notebook & Gel Pen Set

My favorite item from the LEGO line, if I were to gift a LEGO fan some stationery, this would be the item I would gravitate toward. This thick 192-page notebook has been crafted with FSC-certified ivory paper. It’s supposed to offer quality whether you’re writing or drawing.

Being a square (approximately 6 inches) and accompanied by a red gel pen, the fun part about this notebook is how the pen can be attached to the notebook because of a 1×4 LEGO plate and tile, ensuring the notebook can be securely closed once you’re done.

Not only that, but there’s also an integrated elastic band that can be used as a bookmark or for added strength in keeping the notebook closed. The designers really didn’t want to make it easy for someone to flip through your notes, huh? Ha!

The pages are dotted, adding to the vibe if you’re into sketching designs.

It’s currently available for $38 CAD.

Ferris Wheel Press FerriTales Ink Bottle – 20ml

According to the box, the Ferris Wheel Press fountain pen inks are water-based, evenly toned, rich, and saturated. And you know what? I can attest to that. The ink had a very pretty color and looked amazing on paper.

The ink I got was called Unfettered Flight, with the cardboard box featuring a swan. The flavor text talked about facing formidable tribulations to emerge radiantly inspired.

The ink came in a glass globe bottle with a widened neck. The cap’s gold and, I assume, made of metal or a similar material. The logo is on the bottle along with a bunch of stars hugging the container. The base is Light Blue with the shimmer being Pink/Gold.

You can have this particular ink (or other colors) for CAD $36.00.

Diamine Shimmer Ink Bottle – 50ml

I received the ‘Moon Dust’ color in this line of UK-made fountain pen inks by Diamine. Coming in a glass bottle, this ink has a shimmer to it that reveals itself after the ink dries. This one had a silver effect.

The cap’s made of material similar to metal. The bottle has a sticker showing the name of the color. It’s recommended that you shake the bottle well before use.

You can own inks in the Shimmer line for CAD $19.00.

Note: For both inks, I found them to be quite giving, meaning that I was able to write a whole lot before needing to dip the pen again. So, these inks will last you a long time. And yes, because they were visually stunning, I just had to use them with a paintbrush. They work well as water-based paint to add a different dimension to your artwork.
