Boruto Two Blue Vortex manga issue 34, titled ‘Used to It’, took a breather from all of the recent action to finally give me something I had been waiting for ever since Omipotence.

Picking up during the aftermath of Boruto and the other young ninjas vs Mamushi, ‘Used to It’ opened with Boruto sharing an interesting detail about the Thorn Bulb with Kawaki. It’s revealed that if the newly formed Thorn Bulb isn’t used to free the trapped person or to create yet another Humanoid Shinju in a couple of minutes, not only will the Thorn Bulb evaporate, but so will the soul of the trapped person. So, after Mamushi’s defeat and the appearance of the Thorn Bulb, Boruto had a handful of minutes to use it to rescue Bug.

This piece of information also let everyone know that once Hidari was defeated, our young heroes would need to rush to the tree where Sasuke was caged. I highly doubt Sasuke will die, but when the time comes, something is likely going to happen to delay Boruto or someone else from easily releasing Sasuke.

With Jura having lost three Humanoid Shinju to Boruto and co, I wonder if he will retaliate soon. There is a chance that Jura somehow managed to create even more Humanoid Shinju offscreen. However, frankly, I don’t really see that happening. As of right now, it’s only him and Hidari left to be dealt with. And we know Jura’s aware of Mamushi’s death due to the hivemind. So, what’s he waiting for?

Due to Boruto wanting to use the Thorn Bulb to rescue Bug, Kashin Koji mentioned three possible futures that were all linked to Code seeking revenge against Boruto. In one of the possible outcomes, just in case Code failed to kill Boruto while freeing Bug, he was going to target Salad as a way to use her as leverage to lure Boruto out and in front of Jura and Hidari. There was also the possibility of Code realizing the wrongness of his ways and siding with Boruto and the rest to stop Jura. But as Kashin Koji put it, that particular future of Code switching sides was wishful thinking.

I liked how confident Boruto was when he appeared at Jura’s headquarters to use the Thorn Bulb. Boruto was ready for Code’s so-called ambush. And yeah, I think it’s quite apparent that the creative team wants to continue with making Code come across as a loser. Code’s really out there thinking that he’s the Chosen One. It’s hilarious.

Boruto being too late to save Bug due to Code did take me by surprise. But his demise made sense for the narrative. Seeing Bug die served as an example to Boruto about what will happen to Sasuke if Boruto’s too late to free him after acquiring the Thorn Bulb.

Coming to how ‘Used to It’ finally gave me what I had been waiting for, that particular conversation occurred in the hospital after Salad regained consciousness. Ever since Omnipotence messed with people’s minds and switched Kawaki’s place with Boruto in their memories, I had been waiting for the narrative to share Sakura’s opinions regarding Sasuke abandoning Konoha to help a criminal Boruto and Salad walking around the village trying to get people to support Boruto. Having a runaway ninja for a husband (with an already tainted past) and a daughter who just wouldn’t stop talking about Boruto’s innocence was bound to impact Sakura, especially as the village’s Head Doctor.

I already knew that no amount of Omnipotence would be enough to waver Sakura’s love and trust in Sasuke and Salad, even though they had been showcasing their support for someone like Boruto. But yeah, I still wanted to see such a conversation play out on-panel.

Sakura began by explaining that using the Mangetyou Sharingan would eventually cause Salad to lose her eyesight. Activating her MS a couple of times had already made her eyesight worse than before. However, such a condition was a reality for being a powerful member of the Uchiha Clan. That’s why it made sense for Sakura to support Salad instead of forbidding her from using her MS, especially because the MS was a power-up Salad had achieved to fulfill her objective of protecting her loved ones.

Salad’s journey reminded Sakura of her own journey as well as what Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha had gone through. All four of these characters had worked hard to overcome a mountain of obstacles to stand for what they believed in. That also meant sticking to your path regardless of scrutiny. Itachi had the entire world think of him as a villain. Sasuke managed to do the same thing during the Naruto era. And Sakura, along with Naruto, made a lot of enemies and had fingers pointed at them for wanting to save a criminal like Sasuke.

And now, Salad and Sasuke were repeating the cycle because of Boruto. Sakura, due to her love and past experiences, knew she had to stand with her husband and daughter, even if everyone else considered Boruto an enemy of Konoha.

The title ‘Used to It’ was actually about how Sakura was used to people talking trash about her family. It affected her, of course. Sakura’s only human. However, Sakura’s also a mother. That’s why I appreciated the scene where she displayed a strong demeanour in front of Salad to keep the young ninja’s spirits high before wiping away a tear after exiting the room that Salad was in. Hey! Parents cry, too. And many have cried without allowing their children to ever see how much emotional pressure they were under.

Oh, Sakura. The woman that you are!

Another emotional moment occurred between Salad and Chocho. Their friendship had fallen apart ever since Omnipotence made Chocho think of Boruto as a traitor. However, after fighting Mamushi alongside Boruto, she had come to realize that Boruto’s goal of protecting Konoha was legit. Chocho also questioned how Kawaki looked nothing like Naruto, even though he was supposed to be Naruto’s biological son.

Such a development showed that while Omnipotence couldn’t be reversed in the sense that it had never happened, there were ways to get people back on track regarding certain things. Slowly but surely, the rest of the young Konoha ninjas were growing to trust Boruto. I wonder how they will react when it’s revealed that it’s Kawaki who used Eida to cast Omnipotence in the first place.
