FEELINGS Daily: Emma Watson Speaks Up For International Women’s Day
Sunday is a slow day, but as I live in Australia it’s actually Monday, which makes it very incredibly boring. But I guess you guys can have your day of rest as well. I mean it was International Woman’s Day but all that means is that awesome websites about women for women like Femsplain get DDOS’d because the dudebros can’t let the women-folk have ONE SINGLE DAY. But I’m not bitter, oh wait, I am. Anyway here’s some gifs of Chris Hemsworth on SNL.
Nothing says International Women’s Day like American Sniper passing Mockingjay Part 1 as the top grossing 2014 release. Yup in case you forgot the world sucks. And honest to goodness I do not understand why anyone would choose to see American Sniper over Jupiter Ascending aka the masterpiece of our time – featuring Academy Award Winner Eddie Redmayne. In case you lose faith in all humanity Emma Watson – aka the most Hermione Granger-esque person currently in existence – continues to be brilliant with her live conversation on Gender Equality! While it’s not all encompassing, it’s still heartwarming to see a young woman speaking out for other women. (via The Mary Sue)
In a final bit of brilliant news Star Wars is introducing its first LGBTQ+ character. Imperial officer Moff Mors is a supporting character in the upcoming novel Lords of the Sith. Thank goodness it’s only a technical first – thanks to Disney’s dismissal of the Expanded Universe – because it does seem like a little late in the game to be introducing the first queer person in THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Still a step forward is a step forward, so kudos for that Disney. (via The Daily Dot)
