“Extracurricular Activities” Trailer Delivers a Dark Comedy about Not Liking Your Parents
Judging by the trailer, Extracurricular Activities looks like a movie that could be a surprisingly well-written dark comedy. What should you do with your parents if they are messing up your life?
I’m a fan of smaller movies featuring an interesting premise. Extracurricular Activities focuses on a high school student named Reagan who decides to begin killing people to help others. I have no idea how this film is going to end for Reagan, but I’m intrigued to see how far he is able to go. There is also some queer representation going on.
Here’s the official description:
In the dark comedy-thriller, EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, Reagan is a model high school student with a “killer” after school job. When the parents of his classmates become too overbearing, self-obsessed – or just plain inconvenient – he offers to get rid of them for a price by setting up a series of “accidents.” But when seasoned police detective Cliff Dawkins starts putting the pieces together, it’s a battle of wits to see if Reagan can keep business booming while the rising body count brings Cliff closer to the truth.
The film stars Colin Ford (We Bought A Zoo, “Supernatural”), Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals, Pride Prejudice and Zombies), Timothy Simons (“Veep”), Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$), Angela Kinsey (“The Office”) and Bobby Lee (Pineapple Express, “Mad TV”). Rounding out the cast is Steve Hytner (Seinfeld), Arden Myrin, Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone), Patrick Fabian (Better Call Saul), Christine Ko (The Great Indoors) and Dileep Rao (Inception, Avatar).
Extracurricular Activities is directed by Jay Lowi (Wild Things: Diamonds in the Rough, Tangled) and written by Bob Sáenz (Help for the Holidays, The Right Girl). The film is produced by David K. Wilson (Jake Squared, Girl Flu), and Rich Hull (She’s All That, American Psycho II) and Paul Schiff (Young Guns, Rushmore, Maid in Manhattan) serve as executive producers. Lotus Entertainment is handling worldwide sales.
Having received a theatrical premiere on May 17, 2019, it will be available on VOD and DVD come June 4, 2019.
