You’re Not Ready For “The Real Housewives of Konoha” – Recommendation

The incredibly funny and sassy The Real Housewives of Konoha series by YouTuber ItsKoiAye is something every Naruto and Boruto fan should watch.

I got to know about The Real Housewives of Konoha after seeing it, fortunately, pop up as a YouTube recommendation a couple of weeks ago. While The Real Housewives reality-show franchise is huge on TV, I never got into a single one of those shows. But this masterpiece by ItsKoiAye? I can’t wait for new episodes to be released, with each installment somehow finding a way to be better than the previous one.

The premise is just what you would expect from such content. This reality show spoof focuses on the housewives in Konoha or the Hidden Leaf Village from the Naruto/Boruto franchise. The first episode introduces us to Sakura (Sasuke’s wife), Hinata (Naruto’s wife), Temari (Shikamaru’s wife), and Ino (Sai’s wife). The women decide to meet up for a girls’ night out and instantly fall into drama when Ino, for some messy reason, brings up questions about why Sakura walks around wearing the Uchiha Clan symbol and acts as if she’s part of said clan. The conversation, continuing to get messier, gets Temrai involved as she and Ino try to drag Sakura’s love for Sasuke.

ItsKoiAye clearly understands the Naruto/Boruto franchise lore complete with how certain characters are perceived by the fandom. There are still numerous fans who feel Sasuke and Sakura getting married makes no sense. They tried to kill each other more than once during the events of Naruto Shippuden. So, of course, ItsKoiAye’s going to use that history to crack a few jokes at Sakura’s expense.

ItsKoiAye also doesn’t shy away from the biggest truth in the fandom… the fact that a majority of fans agree that Naruto and Sasuke should have been the romantic endgame. The duo getting paired up would have made a lot more sense than Naruto/Hinata and Sasuke/Sakura. Naruto and Sasuke were each other’s first kiss in canon after all. Ha!

Episode 5 (the most recent release) had adult Sasuke take Sakura to recreate the time he and Naruto kissed in the Ninja Academy classroom as kids. I laughed out so loud when I realized what was happening!

Along with Sakura, Hinata, Ino, and Temari starring in the first episode, the subsequent episodes also bring in Tenten and Karui. With the women having their own social troubles to address, the show also takes time to focus on the men to share their thoughts on what they think is happening. Not only that but there are also mini-scenes (I would even call them vignettes), unrelated to the main narrative, that allows ItsKoiAye to present even more jokes not revolving around the lead female cast.   

From what I could gather, ItsKoiAye first posted this series on TikTok. However, when transferring the concept over on YouTube, the production value came through, especially the far better wigs for the characters (all played by ItsKoiAye).

I also have to applaud his editing skills. This young creator understands what makes The Real Housewives format tick. His episodes have a similar editing style, complete with the characters talking to the camera during confessionals.

I love it when fans have a sense of humor when it comes to the content they enjoy. There’s decades of content in the Naruto/Boruto franchise that’s ripe for comedy and ItsKoiAye more than delivers!
