Adult Swim has shared the trailer for the new action-packed anime titled Ninja Kamui before the show’s debut on February 10, 2024. The upcoming anime is by director Sunghoo Park.

The narrative of Ninja Kamui is quite straightforward. Viewers will get to see a former ninja clan member named Joe Higan swearing vengeance against the mysterious shadow organization responsible for killing his wife and son. Apparently, Joe ran away from his ninja clan and thought he would be safe living in hiding in rural America with his family. But of course, he was wrong. ‘Ninja Kamui’ is the name of the identity Joe takes up on his quest for revenge.

Along with Joe going around killing a bunch of people to get to the head of the clan, the story will also involve an FBI agent and his rookie partner as they investigate a series of murders and end up walking into a global conspiracy.

Frankly, it’s not necessarily the most original story out there. But having watched the trailer, I’m here for the overall gore and the cool futuristic ninja vibes.

Check it out for yourself!

Park (God of High School, Jujutsu Kaisen) described this particular anime as a “gripping action series about a hero hell-bent on payback.” Park added that he hopes fans will “enjoy the intense fight scenes” along with the “human drama” depicted via “unique characters.”

The anime features original character designs by Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) and a new song from the Japanese band Coldrain.

The show has been produced by E&H production (Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation) and Sola Entertainment (Lord of The Rings: War of The Rohirrim, Blade Runner: Black Lotus).

After airing on Adult Swim come February 10, 2024, at midnight, new episodes of Ninja Kamui will be available the next day on Max. From what I could gather, the first season of the anime is supposed to consist of 12 episodes.

As far as my opinion goes, I will definitely be watching the first episode. But as I said near the beginning of this post, such a revenge story isn’t a unique concept. So, I’m not sure if this series can make me keep coming back for more every week. Let’s see.

Take note; a videogame adaptation titled Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins is planned for a Spring 2024 release.

Here’s to hoping Ninja Kamui receives the success the creative team waiting for.

Are you excited about watching it?
