Although Beach City Con is over a year away, the excitement continues to mount with the newest press release about the Beach City Con Kickstarter.
Beach City Con, brought to us by Saga Event Planning, is the first ever planned Steven Universe convention. In June, the Geekiary announced Beach City Con, and since then the mailing list and inquiries has grown exponentially. The organizers have put together something special, and The Geekiary is the first outlet to have the juicy scoop about the upcoming Beach City Con Kickstarter. In order to fund the convention, Saga Event Planning is organizing this fundraiser to raise the money necessary for basic convention expenses.
On August 16th, Beach City Con announced their official Kickstarter, complete with donation tiers. The tiers range from Diamond (with a gift of one dollar) all the way to Crystal Gem (donations of a thousand dollars that include tickets, priority seating, and two nights at the host hotel). With the announcement of the fundraiser, there have been a plethora of incoming questions about the con itself as well as the Kickstarter.
The official announcement includes information about booking codes for the hotel, weekend pass badge prices, ticket and single day ticket prices, convention meals and food, panels and guests, convention coupons, as well as an in-depth discussion about the Beach City Con Kickstarter, all before it goes live. The money from the Kickstarter will determine the possibility of special guests attending the convention as well as a guarantee that the convention itself will happen if they meet their minimum goal.
The Kickstarter event will go live at midnight on September 1st, 2016. While it is not required that attendees stay at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel & Conference Center, it is highly encouraged, as some events – including nightlife activities – will be restricted to those who book a room at the host hotel. Room rates start at just $119/night plus tax, and they are all suites, so it’s definitely quite a deal! Additionally, certain tiers include the aforementioned priority seating, while others include guaranteed seating – the difference being that priority seating will be in the first few rows, and guaranteed seating means that you will have guaranteed entrance to all panels.
Both the Quartz and Corundum tiers include early ticket buying privileges, so if you donate at these levels, you will receive a code that allows you to purchase Beach City Con tickets before they go on sale to the public. However, if you aren’t able to attend, your donation at any level would still be very much appreciated – if Beach City Con 2017 is a success, the goal is to move the convention to different locations in the future so that more and different people will have a chance to attend in future years.
The email with this and more information about the convention will be sent out to the participants on the mailing list by the end of this week. If you’re not on the mailing list, you can sign up via the official website, and be sure to check back with the Geekiary for all your Beach City Con exclusives!
