Breaking Glass Pictures to Release Scud’s Provocative Queer Film “Apostles” this December!
Breaking Glass Pictures will be releasing award-winning writer/director Scud’s provocative queer film Apostles come December 13, 2022, in North America.
For those who might now know, Apostles is Scud’s eighth feature film. The Hong Kong director Scud has made a name for themselves by creating provocative queer-centric projects. And judging by the trailer and the synopsis, Apostles is going to be one hack of a ride, too.
Scud (the stage name of Danny Cheng Wan-Cheung), who is retiring from filmmaking, shared that this movie will be one of their last pieces of work. According to Queerty, Scud filmed Bodyshop first, but that particular movie is waiting for a release date.
As for what to expect from Apostles, the premise involves a scholar who claims to be an apostle of Socrates and Plato. He’s facing difficulty in facing the end. So, joined by his wife and his ex-partner’s family, the scholar recruits 12 young men to help him with the exploration of death.
The project includes climbing Mt. Fuji, sexual activities, bondage, and a living sacrifice. Of course, you can look forward to a whole lot of philosophical discussions throughout the narrative.
The trailer does have a very eerie feeling to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if certain characters don’t make it out alive.
Here’s the trailer!
Written and directed by Scud, the Director of Photography for Apostles was Meteor Cheung. The Production Designer was Irving Cheung. The film stars Bank Chuang, Teslin, Wei Kai Huang, Qiji Chen, Christopher Tsang, Adrian Heung, Amanda Lee, Jach Chow, and Adonis He.
The film held its World Premiere at Taiwan International Queer Film Festival. The North American premiere was held at the Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival. It went on to play at the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
You can look for it on DVD and VOD, digital platforms (iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, etc.), and local cable & satellite providers on December 13, 2022.
Breaking Glass Pictures previously brought all of Scud’s films (including Utopians, Adonis, City without Baseball) to American audiences. You should really consider checking out Scud’s filmography if you haven’t already.

Philosophy is just too deep for me. My personal view is that thinking deep leads to sitting around and becoming fat. I think a better idea is to stop all the thinking and hitting the gym. Why can’t they make more comedy? I don’t think I would enjoy this film.
