It’s Spring (in certain areas) and you know what means? It’s time to tap into your ‘Dark Side’, as far as the Star Wars Galaxy Box from CultureFly is concerned.

The latest Star Wars Galaxy Box subscription option from CultureFly contained a total of 6 items themed after the ‘Dark Side’ from the decades-long iconic IP. Of course, I was expecting something featuring Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, and Palpatine. And that’s exactly what I got and more.

Sticking to the theme, the ‘Dark Side’ box was in all black with a shiny red Galactic Empire logo on the front of the box. On closer inspection, the rest of the cardboard box featured imagery of Darth Vader and his TIE fighter. The bottom of the box had the logos for CultureFly, Star Wars, and Disney, as all of the included items were officially licensed products. Opening the box, the interior was red and featured the same imagery as the outside of the box.

The first item I took out was a pair of ‘Dark Side’ crew socks. As someone who feels one can never have enough socks, I really liked receiving such a wearable. These socks were made of 70% cotton, 25% polyester, and 5% spandex. One size is supposed to fit most. They had a good stretch to them. You could see the Galactic Empire logo stitched to the outside of each sock so it shows when you’re wearing them.

I liked the red and black color theme with the socks starting as black at the top and bleeding into the red as you reached the bottom. Definitely the type of socks I will be wearing.

Next up, there’s the Glow-in-the-Dark Three-Piece Pin Set showcasing three iconic villains. In the middle was Darth Vader with Palpatine on the right and Kylo Ren on the left. Each pin, measuring 2 inches long, had two pin backings to ensure stability. As far as my opinion goes, these were some well-detailed pins, down to Palpatine’s wrinkles and the details in both masks.

Talking about the glow-in-the-dark feature, upon testing it, Palpatine’s face glowed with the mask details shining for Darth Vader and Kylo Ren.

The third item was the Darth Maul Journal. Darth Maul’s face really popped on the front of the black journal. To the right of the journal, there’s an elastic band (with a rubber decoration) keeping it shut. The band and the rubber decoration are supposed to resemble Darth Maul’s lightsaber. The back had Darth Maul’s silhouette.

Opening the journal, the first two and the last two pages featured colored drawings of the villain. The inside of the journal had lined pages with the top showing the two-way lightsaber and the bottom having a Dark Side logo.

While I’m a fan of journals, and this one had a hardcover and measured approximately 8×6 inches, I would have preferred some of the pages to be blank and the lined pages to have a separate space to write in dates.

The next item, and one of the most fun ones I have seen, was the Darth Vader ‘Magnetic Desk Organizer’. It came in its own box, packed tightly with styrofoam. Taking it out, the desk organizer was made to resemble Darth Vader (down to his torso), with his left hand reaching out as if Anakin was using The Force to strangle someone.

This was another well-detailed item, made of hard plastic. This item wasn’t going to break easily (I hit it a couple of times). The back of the figure had a rectangular compartment to place pens and pencils. It’s quite spacious. The extended arm had a small circular magnet in the palm. So, yeah, you can use the magnet to stick paperclips, pins, and other metallic stationery, making it look like Darth Vader’s using The Force to hold them. So cool!

Then I took out the Stormtroopers Art Print. It measured approximately 11×9 inches and the design seemed to be on your usual card stock for such prints. It’s not a bad art print for a Star Wars fan, featuring three Stormtroopers posing against a black background and a red Galactic Empire logo. The tagline read ‘Sworn Protectors of the Galactic Empire’.

However, to me, it felt like a filler item, especially because it wasn’t numbered or autographed by someone associated with Star Wars.

The sixth and final item I took out was one of my favorites. I love the wearables CultureFly puts into its subscription boxes (I wore CultureFly stuff while attending the recent Calgary Expo 2024), and the ‘Darth Vader’ lined coaches jacket was another awesome offering.

The jacket was in all black with the front showing the Galactic Empire logo on the left and red buttons (I prefer zippers, but it’s all good). The back had a giant print of Darth Vader’s helmet. It’s a very eye-catching design!

The inside of the jacket featured a repeating image of Darth Vader with two Stormtroopers. The words ‘Dark Side’ appeared below the helmets. So, yeah, this is the type of jacket that will make you come up with excuses to open it up and show the inside design to others.

The sleeves had elastic on the cuffs to help keep the wind out. There are two pockets near the bottom. Also, the cheat card showed this jacket’s pockets having a red lining. However, the actual jacket didn’t have such a detail. I wish it had because it would have made the jacket look cooler. I mean, It’s already cool as it is, but the red-lined pockets would have been a bonus.
