Adult Swim has released the first official trailer for J.J. Villard’s Fairy Tales. The upcoming adult animated series offers a twisted take on classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales. It will debut come May 10, 2020.

As the name of the show states, it has been created by Emmy-winning animator J.J. Villard (King Star King). If you’re into content that makes fun of classic stories, you should mark your calendars for May 10, 2020. The show will air on Sunday night at 12:15 AM (Sunday night leading into Monday).

The official synopsis reads:

“JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales” is a new, twisted, fun take on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales like Cinderella and Snow White. The charm and cuteness of the original stories remain, but now they’ve been updated and packaged into a ball of raw, visceral, gross weirdness. The animated quarter-hour series is created, and executive produced by JJ Villard (“King Star King”) and produced by Cartoon Network Studios. Voice talent this season includes Linda Blair, Warwick Davis, Robert Englund, Corey Feldman, Alan Oppenheimer, Jennifer Tilly, and Villard himself among others.

The trailer for this show features gore and some very weird takes on a number of stories we read as children. J.J. Villard’s Fairy Tales has a forest with a crime scene and a lot of strange-looking creatures. From what I could understand, the series will also tackle Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Rumplestiltskin, Pinocchio, and Rapunzel.

See it for yourself!

I’m not sure what to think of the animation-style yet. It feels very simple with the characters hopping instead of actually walking. But who knows, maybe there’s an audience for such a style? It kind of reminds me of South Park.

What is your opinion? Will you be watching J.J. Villard’s Fairy Tales this May?

Let us know.

Side note; Adult Swim will be airing the final five episodes of Rick and Morty Season 4 on May 3, 2020.
