GMMTV 2025 Trailer Roundup

Perhaps one day I’ll talk about something other than Thai dramas, but today is not that day. Today GMMTV held their 2025 showcase, introducing all of their series they will be producing in the next year (or so). I was up at 5am to watch the livestream, and now you all get to suffer that decision with me.

It seems weird to be talking about GMMTV’s 2025 series when so many of the shows from its 2024 presentation haven’t aired yet. (Some of them haven’t even started filming yet.) But here we are, with another round of trailers I’m sure you’re anxious to hear my opinion on!

As with my previous roundup post, I’ll go down the list of trailers with my reaction and whether or not I plan to watch it live. I encourage everyone to watch the trailers and judge for themselves.

Dare You to Death

When this trailer initially started, I assumed I was not going to be interested. It doesn’t look like a Jamie kind of show. And when Joong came in, I was like, “OK, Joong is playing a police officer, that could be cool.” And then Dunk turned around and I knew I was going to be watching this show no matter how bad it is.

I’ve been saying all along that I need to see more BLs where the characters are older. Not to mention, it’s the first BL up and it’s already way different than anything we’ve seen so far. (Plus, Drake and Sing? Yes, please.)

Will I Watch? God help me, I love JoongDunk. So yes.

Head 2 Head

Second series and already another BL, this time featuring new pairing Sea and Keen. I thought it might be a racing show, which made me excited (although I cannot bring myself to watch Pit Babe, I just can’t). It’s not, and while admittedly I love the idea of a character flashing forward to moments in their life, it seems tonally out of place in this series.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this, just based on the trailer. I didn’t watch Only Boo, so I’m not super attached to Sea and Keen as a pair. However, y’all know I love a good antagonistic relationship dynamic.

Will I Watch? This is a maybe, if I hear good things.

Burnout Syndrome

SHUT UP UNFOLLOW ME NOW HOLY CRAP. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting OffGun to have another full series this year, since they just had two (technically) in 2024. I went into this expecting something like Our Skyy 3 with their Cooking Crush characters. So when this trailer started, I freaked out.

I am salivating for this. I’ll be honest, this normally would not be my kind of show, but it’s Off and Gun, y’all. OFF AND GUN. I’ve been wanting them to have something more adult, since Not Me is my favorite of their series. And this is from the director of Not Me, so I expect really good things. I’m still a little confused on the plot, but I’m here and seated for a show where these two get to play darker characters. (Especially Gun. I know he’s aging backwards, but please stop making him a college student.)

Will I Watch? Try and stop me, holy jeez. This is getting a review with lots of caps lock, you have been warned.

I Love a Lot of You

It can be difficult to do a character with multiple personalities well, and I honestly don’t have a lot of faith in it.

Oof. I love Nanon, but honestly, a series like this is just not the kind of thing I think that I’d like. And the fact that I can’t even really come up with anything to say about this trailer says a lot, I feel.

Will I Watch? Nah, I think I’ll sit this one out.

Whale Store XOXO

Oh, hello, Milk and Love! It makes sense that for the first GL of the presentation, it’s Milk and Love. I adore the two of them, and while I’m happy that they got their own series with 23.5, I was hoping they would give them something a little more mature. I know that a lot of GMMTV’s target audience is younger, but I’m always happy when the characters are NOT in high school.

I have a distinct feeling that Love’s character’s family is opening the competing grocery store, but if it worked in You’ve Got Mail, it will work for Milk and Love! Also, I love that Love has that jack-of-all-trades thing going on. (It reminds me a lot of Fort’s character in Love Sea).

Will I Watch? This looks cute! I’m absolutely game.

Only Friends: Dream On

I thought it was a joke when I heard the theme song! I was like, “Oh, they’re using the song in the trailer, that’s fun.” I can’t believe Only Friends is getting a second season! Neo’s even in it! Plus Earth and Mix are getting another series already? Ossan’s Love isn’t even out yet! And they’re co-starring with Ohm and Leng AND Joss and Gawin (still waiting on My Golden Blood, here)?

I know this isn’t technically “variety”, since Only Friends came out last year and this is just a continuation, but I do love how different all of the series featured so far have been. I did enjoy Only Friends (even if I think the ending was a little too happily ever after), and this looks honestly even messier.

Will I Watch? I mean, yeah, I’m obviously gonna watch.

That Summer

Winny and Satang seriously surprised and impressed me in We Are. I know We Are wasn’t anything deep or serious, but they may have been my favorite part of the show. They were so adorable. I was hoping they would get a new series where they were the main pair.

OK, so we have secret royalty, we have amnesia. We have everything. And we’ve got Mond in a BL, where he’s not showing up to throw a wrench into everyone’s relationships? Yes, thank you. I am very excited for that.

Will I Watch? Yes, this is definitely being added to the list.

My Romance Scammer

I keep mentioning it, but it remains important, I love the diversity in the series that we’re getting! Yes, thank you, please give me gay grifters. Now that gay marriage is legal in Thailand, we can get series where there are gay marriage scams, and they get gay divorces.

That said, with the sheer number of shows that come out every year, sometimes it comes down to whether or not I like the pairings enough to tune in. I do enjoy Junior and Mark (they were great in Cherry Magic), but I don’t know if they’re enough to draw me to this series. Also, will Title ever play a character that doesn’t make me want to punch him in the face? Only time will tell.

Will I Watch? This is a maybe.

Melody of Secrets

OK, wow, I was not expecting a ForceBook series, considering Perfect 10 Liners will be airing for like six months. And I’m kind of surprised we’re getting another serial killer crime BL already. (Is this going to be like vampire BLs, where we all of a sudden get four of them in a year? Because I’m not complaining.)

I’m actually really excited to check out Force and Book in something dramatic. Everything they’ve done so far has been comedic in nature, but they were so good in their episode of Peaceful Property. They deserve to have something a little meatier to sink their teeth into.

Will I Watch? Yeah, I think I’ll be tuning in for this.

Love You Teacher

Holy cow, Perth and Santa are already getting their own series? We haven’t even gotten to their episodes in Perfect 10 Liners to see what they’re like as a pairing. I am, however, digging that we have an established relationship as the main pair in a BL, because that’s pretty rare.

Yeah, no, this is weird. I’ve definitely read de-aged fic, but something about actually seeing it play out and be canon is just off-putting. (I think it’s because he’s still in his adult body.) I also have concerns about serious brain injuries being used for comedic effect. However, I’m a little interested to see how they handle this – why sometimes he’s back to his old self and sometimes he’s not.

Will I Watch? I think I’ll wait to see what people think before checking it out.

Mu-Te-Luv

SeaKeen and OhmLeng both getting second series was not on my bingo card. I am super excited to see Fluke (Nattanon) again, because I loved him in Wandee Goodday.

I have no idea what’s even going on in this trailer. Seven love stories? Is this series going to be 50 episodes? How are you even going to balance this many stories? This looks convoluted and kind of ridiculous, which honestly sometimes can be really entertaining. And I do like the thread of magic that connects all of the stories.

Will I Watch? I’m going to have to wait to see what people say about this.

Cat for Cash

Oh man, I honestly wasn’t expecting a FirstKhao series announcement for the same reason that I was surprised by the JoongDunk one. The Heart Killers has only just started airing, after all. I’m not a huge fan of the title, but First and Khao in a series with a lot of cats? This is like tailor made for them. It’s even got Satang in it!

Yes, OK, the idea of First’s character being able to read cats’ minds is a little ridiculous, but if Cherry Magic hadn’t paved the way for this, I’d think it would be a little more out there. (It’s canon on GMMTV that it is possible to hear what cats are thinking!) And I am living for the idea of seeing First and Khao in a legitimate romcom – they’ve been wanting to do one for so long.

Will I Watch? FirstKhao and cats? Of course!

Girl Rules

That’s a lot of beautiful ladies in one series. I don’t know that my heart can take it, honestly. This looks like a lesbian Only Friends, and I am absolutely here for that. Let’s go.

I am a little surprised that they’re giving MilkLove another series already when there are a couple of other GL pairs that still need to lead a show. But I do appreciate that they’re doing more GL series. They don’t even usually feature GL side couples in BL shows, which they totally could do. And I love Namtan and Film, they are absolutely killing it in Pluto right now.

Will I Watch? Ladies getting the chance to be messy? Absolutely going to watch this.

Boys in Love

We actually went a pretty long time without a high school BL, I’m very impressed. And I appreciate that they’re introducing new, younger pairings for this, instead of taking some of the 20-somethings and sticking them back into school uniforms. Plus, a very apt title. And Chokun! I loved him in My Love Mix-Up.

So this actually looks really cute; most of these high school shows end up being cute and fluffy, which is totally my jam. But with so many series featuring older characters, I feel like I’m going to gravitate more towards one of those. And then PapangPodd came out of nowhere. Tumblr has been manifesting that ship for weeks now, so I feel like I have to watch just for that. Also, the cast was super cute on stage – that goes a long way for me.

Will I Watch? I have to tune in for PapangPodd!

My Magic Prophecy

It’s no secret that I hated the ending of Last Twilight (I didn’t even review the final episode), but until that, I was all in on that show. Jimmy and Sea really sold me, so I’m excited to see them in something else, and I feel like it’s been ages since we’ve seen them on screen.

OK, so we have another series where a character can see the future. Is this going to be a thing, like with serial killers? But I’m not going to lie, I love the “forced together” trope. Do you have any idea how many fics I’ve read where they have to go into witness protection? Plus, Doctor Jimmy plays a doctor! Yay for adult actors having adult professions in their roles.

Will I Watch? Yeah, this is another one that gets added to the list.

A Dog and a Plane

Yay, we got another TayNew series! Like OffGun, since we got Cherry Magic and Peaceful Property this year, I wasn’t expecting another TayNew show. And I love getting to see Marc and Poon in more shows, though I hold out hope they’ll get their own series soon.

This show looks like a lot of fun. I’ve said it before, but the variety this year is great. I love getting to see such a wide range of roles. New as a flight attendant? Tay as a paramedic? This is great! Give me more of this kind of stuff, please and thank you. I’m also really excited to see the different dynamic with MarcPoon, because so far they’ve played very sweet, smitten characters, and this is a total departure from that.

Will I Watch? It’s TayNew, of course, I’m going to watch.

Me and Thee

I was waiting for Pond and Phuwin to show up! And they’re not in high school or college this time! And PerthSanta in another series already? I’m actually super excited about this series. I’ve been wanting a mafia show, even if this isn’t really a mafia show. Pond’s character is in the mafia, that counts. (Don’t think I didn’t recognize that pool, by the way.)

Yeah, this looks like it’s going to be so much fun. I love the idea of a mafia guy being obsessed with soap operas so much that he quotes them in real life, and then everyone recognizes the quote. Plus, this is kind of a reverse of Never Let Me Go, with Pond as the powerful one. I know it’s just the pilot trailer, but I really like Phuwin’s character in this. I always love the dynamic where someone is seriously unimpressed with someone else’s wealth and power.

Will I Watch? I don’t know how I’m going to have time for all of these shows, but yes, I will for sure be watching this.

WU

I haven’t seen High School Frenemy yet, but I’ve heard really good things about it, so I will probably check it out at some point. But I know a lot of people really love Sky and Nani’s chemistry, so I’m sure they’re all super excited to see the two of them in a BL. (Although apparently this has been confirmed to NOT be a BL, even with the mystical bonding thing. Another BL on the DL.)

We’re keeping up with the magic theme, I see. And it looks like this is kind of a bodyguard series, where they’re mystically bound together? That could be really interesting.

Will I Watch? This is a maybe. I think I’ll wait for the actual trailer to make a decision.

Memoir of Rati

I am so excited for another GreatInn series! They were fantastic in Wandee Goodday, and I was so hoping that they would get another show. And AouBoom! (They seriously need their own series, come on, GMMTV.)

Lowkey excited for a period Thai BL. We don’t get many of those, and I love period dramas. And this actually looks super, like, sweeping and romantic. I have a feeling this is the show I’m going to watch with a blanket and a box of tissues as I sob into my pillow. I can’t wait for the yearning.

Will I Watch? Do I need free time? No. Add it to the list.

Ticket to Heaven

Here come Fourth and Gemini! I was waiting for a show with the two of them. And I’m happy that they’re giving them older roles. I know they’re still pretty young, but even with younger actors, it’s good to give them the chance to have stuff with a little bit of weight to it. And they were amazing in Moonlight Chicken, so I know they can handle the material.

Honestly, Fourth and Gemini being in one of the most intense and dramatic series of the lot was also not on my bingo card, but here we are. And as much as I am not a fan of religion, this actually looks really good. (It’s directed by Aof, I’m unsurprised.) I’m very impressed that they took a chance giving these roles to Fourth and Gemini. I’m really excited to see them in a show like this, with such a heavy subject matter. The yearning, y’all.

Will I Watch? Oh, yeah, I’m watching this.

Final Thoughts

So there are 20 new series from GMMTV and they’re basically all gay. Yeah, I’m so here for this. And of the 20, there are 14 that I definitely plan on watching live, with only one definitive “no”, and the rest as maybes. That’s a much better ratio than it was with last year’s offerings.

While I know that some people were concerned that older pairs would mean that new pairings wouldn’t have a chance, I’m quite impressed that they mentioned balancing established pairings with new ones. Not to mention, basically every major pairing got at least one series (with the exception of BounPrem and EmiBonnie, who to be fair have shows from last year’s presentation that have yet to come out).

Dare I say that I’m really impressed with the offerings this time around? Only one school BL in the bunch, and a nice mix of genres and even character professions. Considering the state of the world right now, it’ll be nice to have a bunch of shows that I’m genuinely excited about and looking forward to.

Now, I know for sure that I’ll be reviewing Burnout Syndrome, but I’m not sure about the others yet. If anyone has any opinions, let me know. And tell me which shows you’ll be tuning into in the comments!

If you want to watch the 2025 “Riding the Wave” presentation in its entirety, you can find it on GMMTV’s YouTube.
