If you’re a fan of crime mysteries, you’ll enjoy reading Beauty and Bloodshed by Lorine S. Thomas. Here’s the official synopsis:
What happens when you mix the city that never sleeps, the world’s oldest profession, and a methodical killer? You have the ingredients for one hell of a roller coaster ride.
When Det. Joseph Hall gets called to the scene of a dead prostitute, at first, he works it as a random case. But, when another body turns up, he begins to realize that something more calculated and sinister is at work.
Now, Det. Hall must rely on his instincts and ability more than ever to find this ruthless predator. Alongside his new partner, and returning allies, Dr. Reece and ADA Calloway, they begin a citywide manhunt for the killer who is stalking the streets. But as the killer circles closer, nothing prepared them for this kind of psychopathic behavior.
Can they stop this madman before he claims his next victim? Will the streets of New York City be safe again?

Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a self-published author, who writes in the mystery/crime-drama genre. I have been writing part-time for the past three years, but hopefully, soon I will be able to do this full-time.
How long have you been writing? When did you realize you wanted to become an author?
I’ve been writing for about three years now. This is something that completely took me by surprise, as it was never my dream to become a writer. But, a few years ago this idea kept playing around in my head and it didn’t leave until I had written it down. So, I guess you can say that I am a late bloomer.
Can you tell us about other writers that have inspired you?
Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts are two writers who I have always been inspired by. It was, in fact, a Sandra Brown book that first got me reading in my genre.
What’s your favorite genre to write? Do you consider yourself a multi-genre author?
Mystery/Thriller and Crime-Drama is where it is at for me. That is as far as a multi-genre cross as I can go.
Tell us a bit about your writing process.
My process for writing is simple. I usually plan out the base of the story, my characters, and chapters. I have a general idea as to how the story begins and ends, so I am basically filling in the middle. My schedule is a bit crazy with work, so I try to make out as much time in the evenings as I possibly can.
Have you ever experienced writer’s block? Can you give us any tips to deal with it?
I have experienced a ton of writer’s block. Sometimes I try to push through it by reading over what I have already written. If that doesn’t work, then I will take my mind off of it by reading something else.
Tell us about Beauty and Bloodshed (which I’ve already reviewed). What kind of readers will it appeal to?
Beauty and Bloodshed tells the story of a young man who has an unhealthy obsession with prostitutes. His obsession leads him to murder several of them during his time in New York. However, there is a ‘why’ to his obsession that is the pivotal piece of the puzzle. I think readers who like police procedurals and are fans of the Law & Order series will enjoy it.
Is there any advice you’d like to give aspiring writers?
I would advise any aspiring writer to be true to your voice and yourself. Do not try to follow any other writer that is currently out there. It is good to admire, but do not copy. There will always be folks that won’t like your work, so you can’t please everyone. As long as you write something that you are proud of, that is all that matters.
Any opinions regarding indie/self-publishing and the traditional route?
So far, the indie route has worked well for me. It is a bit more work as all the promoting and so forth is completely on my shoulders. But, it allows me the time to write at my own pace and not someone else’s deadline. Eventually, I would love to go the traditional way, but I would need more time for that.
Are there any upcoming works you want us to know about?
I am currently prepping my outline for my third book of the series. I am still working on both the title and series name. Hopefully, it will come soon.
How can readers contact you?
