If I’ve learned anything in my short life, it’s that people love to complain. We enjoy picking things apart to shove under our critical microscopes and destroying them ruthlessly. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been a little destructive, and maybe it’s because at the end of the day, I need something I can laugh at.
The Bitching Dead originally began as a bit of a joke but we realized that it had potential for an excellent webcast. After all, Feelings is a webcast where we discuss current geek news and reviews and, well, FEELINGS. But what if we made it a bit more fandom focused?
What’s something that we all don’t care much for but are still somewhat fond of? What is something that has a lot of roasting potential? What’s something that seems to fall short of expectations no matter how hard it tries? Now that the snark baton has been passed to me (Bekah), The Walking Dead seems to be a perfect candidate. It’s a TV show franchise with a huge fan base, spin-offs, books, and comics. Every major retailer in the world carries something TWD related, whether it’s Halloween costumes, fandom gear, or weird Etsy crafts. Despite the show’s popularity, ratings and viewership are falling well below expectations. It could be a variety of factors: new shows to compete with, the same storyline over and over, or perhaps just the content in general.
Regardless, we’ve decided to air our grievances to the internet.
The Bitching Dead webcast will be hosted by Geekiary writers Bekah, Farid, and Tara Lynne and will air live at 8 PM EST on Monday, November 13, 2017 on The Geekiary Youtube channel. Subsequent webcasts will air the Monday after the episode to give viewers time to catch up on spoilers. We’re still in the beginning stages of the webcast but we’re excited to share our snark with you.
You can follow The Bitching Dead on Twitter to keep up with special events and special events webcasts, and check out our super cool swag in the shop. All proceeds from sales go to keep The Geekiary up and running.
Buckle up Buttercup, ’cause we’re about to start Bitching About Stuff n’ Thangs.
