Rick and Morty season seven debuted on October 15, 2023, and concluded on December 17, 2023. This is the first ever season in the franchise to not have Justin Roiland doing any voice work. Even though he’s still credited as co-creator and executive producer he was dismissed from the franchise back in January 2023 due to allegations involving violence, abuse, and sexual harassment.

Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden replaced Roiland as the voices of Rick and Morty respectively. From what I have been able to gather, the voice change went smoothly as far as fan reception is concerned. For certain viewers and critics, the switch was nearly indistinguishable.

As far as my opinion goes, as someone who watches this show, I was okay with the voice swap. If I were to be nitpicky, I do feel that Belden’s Morty was closest to the original sound while Cardoni’s Rick came very close. But then again, that could be due to me being aware of new voice actors being cast in the iconic roles.

What did you think of the latest season?
