If the tweets by the cast and crew involved in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse are anything to go by then singer Taylor Swift might end up having a cameo in Fox’s mutant-centric film series.
The prospect of Taylor Swift having a possible cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse started when Simon Kinberg tweeted a picture of himself with the young singer alongside actors James McAvoy and Sophie Turner. The picture was taken back in 2015 and while it ignited rumors about Swift being part of the film Kinberg said she just came to visit because she was doing a concert nearby.
Now, the same rumor has been given new life after Sophie Turner tweeted a picture about a mutant named Dazzler. The whole thing wouldn’t have meant much if Sophie hadn’t added the “pre 1989” in the caption of course. She clearly knew what she was doing and how the fans were going to react.
The cover art of the album that Cyclops is seen holding is a comic book cover that artist Bill Sienkiewicz did in 1983. X-Men: Apocalypse also takes place in the 1980’s and having Dazzler during that timeline does make sense. However, with 1989 being the name of Taylor’s hugely successful album one can’t help but think that Sophie’s tweet has something to do with the singer.
I don’t have anything against Taylor Swift joining the X-Men franchise as Dazzler. So, let’s see if the current rumors end up being true when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters in the UK on May 18, 2016. It will be released in the US on the 27th of May. Bryan Singer will serve as the director with Simon Kinberg writing the screenplay.
What do you think about Taylor Swift possibly joining X-Men: Apocalypse as Dazzler? Do you think such a cameo is even possible? Let us know!
