Studio71 (in partnership with Snarled Entertainment) is ready to debut its first scripted serialized thriller podcast called The Shadow Diaries. It stars Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale) and Kara Hayward (Moonrise Kingdom).
According to the press release we got, The Shadow Diaries has been described as “a thrilling new podcast that uncovers the terrifying reality behind the glitz and glamour of the world’s number one pop star.” This new podcast will follow a “wide-eyed” journalist named Shana Secco (Hayward) as she lands her first assignment to shadow her childhood musical idol Eliza Gold (Petsch).
Eliza happens to be an elusive pop star and being a part of her world will lead Shana to uncover certain secrets about Eliza’s surprise comeback and the involvement of a mysterious group called “The Divinity”. And yes, demonic forces are involved.
I mean, I don’t know about you, but this already sounds like an interesting pitch for a Netflix series or a show on The CW.
“This is a story I’ve wanted to tell ever since I was touring with my own band years ago,” said The Shadow Diaries co-writer and director, K. Asher Levin. “My writing partner Zack Imbrogno and I have had such a wonderful experience working with the team at Studio71 on what I hope will be the first of many projects. I’m also grateful for our spectacular cast who lent their voices to this project and a special thanks to one of our leads, Kara Hayward, who I get the pleasure to work with again on the horror film I’m directing and co-wrote, which starts shooting next month.”
Gayle Gilman, Executive Producer of The Shadow Diaries, said “I wanted to create a narrative podcast that would captivate fans of Snarled Entertainment’s weekly ghost stories as well as fans of the typical horror genre seen in TV and films today. We’ve loved working with Studio71’s podcast team on Something Scary and their scripted team’s experience with the V/H/S horror anthology franchise made them the best partner for this edge-of-your-seat supernatural thriller series.”
You can catch the trailer on Spotify.
The Shadow Diaries will follow a weekly release pattern starting Wednesday, October 28, 2020 (episodes 1 and 2 will be released on the same day).
Along with Madelaine Petsch and Kara Hayward, this project features Constance Zimmer, K. Asher Levin (Director and Co-Writer), Clint Howard, Davi Santos, Carter Jenkins, Lydia Hearst, Brighton Sharbino, Saxon Sharbino, and Zach Justice.
