The co-hosts and list of nominees have been revealed for the upcoming Gaymind Awards 2024. The 4th Annual Gayming Awards will be held at the Margaritaville Resort in Palm Springs, California, come April 7, 2024.

Let’s talk about the co-hosts first before we get to all of the nominations. An initiative from Gayming Magazine (founded in 2019), the award show will be hosted by drag queen and horror content creator DEERE along with content creator, writer, and podcaster Miliday Confetti. As someone who keeps an eye on the queer video gaming space, I’m familiar with both of them and I have a feeling they will knock it out of the park with their sense of humor.

And now, it’s time to go over the nominations!

Game of the Year Award

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 – Larian Studios
  • Final Fantasy XVI – Square Enix
  • Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo
  • Thirsty Suitors – Outer Loop Games / Annapurna Interactive
  • Spider-Man 2 – Insomniac Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical – Humble Games / Summerfall Studios

Opinion: I can see Baldur’s Gate 3 winning this one not only because of the queer representation but also due to what the title brought to the table as an in-depth role-playing experience.

  • The Last of Us: Long, Long Time – HBO in association with Sony Pictures Television Studios, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog
  • The Legend of Vox Machina – Season 2 – Amazon Studios, Critical Role & Titmouse

Opinion: I’m a bit unsure about what to make of this category. It feels like it’s kind of pitting a particular queer moment against an entire piece of queer content. And that might come across as unfair to some.
