Animal Kingdom 4×7 Review: Know Thy Enemy

Animal Kingdom Season 4 episode 7 Know Thy Enemy review

This week’s episode of Animal Kingdom season 4 was the best yet! ‘Know Thy Enemy’ had a lot of great moments featuring Adrian and Deran’s relationship. Also, Joshua seems to be slowly taking away power from Smurf.

I was provided a free screener of ‘Know Thy Enemy’ for review. The opinions are my own.

We have to talk about Adrian and Deran! I’m so glad Adrian decided to tell the truth to his boyfriend. Poor Deran has a lot of emotions to address. He had to kill Colby and handle Adrian’s truth bomb on the same night. I completely understood when Deran didn’t say anything to Adrian. His silence felt like the natural response in such a situation.

I don’t know how these two are going to figure things out, but seeing Deran ask Adrian to come back home with him gave me all the feels. Adrian even told Detective Pearce he wasn’t going to help the police capture the Cody family and if it that meant being thrown in jail, he was ready for it.

Of course, Deran’s scared about what might happen if Pope finds out that Adrian’s been talking to the DEA. Pope clearly suspects something. I liked seeing Deran say he wasn’t like Pope, but can we be sure about that?

Can Deran be forced to kill Adrian? Perhaps he might have to kill Pope to keep Adrian alive? So much tension!

As for the rest of ‘Know Thy Enemy,’ it involved Joshua telling Smurf about a new job and basically stripping away some of her power. Even though I don’t like Joshua at all, I enjoyed the scene where he made Smurf’s fence agree to work with him.

The preview of the next episode does make it seem the latest job might not go as planned. I can’t wait to see what happens.

Smurf is also doing something in secret. She ended up buying a lot of guns and decided to leave town for a bit. I have no idea where she’s going and why. Perhaps we’ll get to meet the present-day versions of her crew from the past? Let’s see.

Some thoughts and questions:

  • I won’t be surprised if young Smurf played a role in helping Pam steal money.
  • The song selection during the closing moments was amazing.
  • I knew Renn wasn’t going to stay with Craig for long.
  • Is Angela snitching on the Codys?
  • Pope walking into the room while Adrian was packing clothes made me fear for Adrian’s life.

What did you think of ‘Know Thy Enemy’? Let us know.
