Exit Strategy Animal Kingdom Season 4 episode 10 review

Animal Kingdom season 4 episode 10, titled ‘Exit Strategy,’ had Smurf explain her plan to the Codys. Also, I have no idea how Deran is going to help Adrian.

I was provided a free screener of ‘Exit Strategy’ for review. The opinions are my own.

First of all, congratulations to everyone involved with Animal Kingdom, because it has been renewed for a fifth season! I can’t wait to see how the current season ends and what will be offered to fans when the show returns.

Coming to ‘Exit Strategy,’ it made sense for Smurf to ignore her sons trying to get her to talk about her cancer. Smurf has no time to feel sorry for herself, and she definitely doesn’t have time to have a heart-to-heart with her kids. Smurf is coping by pulling a job with her family. Let’s see how it all works out for them. Things are going to go wrong. I can sense it.

Now, I don’t know if Smurf will be back for the fifth season. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she is. I think, storytelling wise, Smurf has to stay alive long enough to see Joshua take everything away from her or at least, come close to doing so. Also, there is a fan theory about Smurf lying about having cancer. Again, I can’t be sure about anything when she’s involved.

However, the one thing I can be sure of is her wanting Adrian gone. Now that Smurf knows about Adrian talking to the police, his days are numbered. She even kissed him during ‘Exit Strategy.’ It felt like giving someone the kiss of death.

Is Deran going to help Adrian hide? Will Adrian go to jail for more than a decade? Can Deran do something to get Smurf to spare Adrian’s life? Will the viewership fall if Adrian is killed off?

I wasn’t a fan of the scene where Adrian kind of put the blame of being caught on Deran’s family. No one (and especially not the Codys) forced Adrian to smuggle drugs. I get he’s frustrated about going to jail for a very long time, but he needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Also, the writers just had to mess things up for Adrian and Deran. With everything else happening in the story, I would have been fine with Deran sharing a few moments of domestic bliss with Adrian in each episode.

Some thoughts and questions:

  • Craig standing up for his right to keep his baby was nice.
  • I have no idea what Angela is still doing on this show.
  • Where is Frankie?
  • I hope Olivia lets Joshua be. I understand she’s angry at him. But she has no idea how dangerous he is.

What did you think of ‘Exit Strategy’? Let us know.

  1. The supposed “fan theory” about Smurf lying about her cancer is ludicrous. Is everyone forgetting that we all HEARD her doctor tell her that she had cancer in her liver, bones, and lymph nodes? And that she began chemotherapy, before leaving in a huff? That stuff is kind of hard to fake, people!

  2. Also, I’m proud and pleased to apparently be the only person who has ever posted a comment on this site!
