Roguelike RPG “Dimensionals” Opens Sign-Ups for Playtesting!

Mino Games has opened sign-ups for the playtesting of the upcoming roguelike turn-based RPG titled Dimensionals. You can register right now to get the chance to experience the game via an exclusive Steam playtest starting July 10, 2024.

According to Mino Games, Dimensionals can be seen as a video game that makes use of the nostalgia associated with Saturday morning cartoons blended with in-depth strategic action gameplay featuring numerous original characters.

The plot of Dimensionals involves the tyrannical King of the Specters unleashing an apocalyptic attack, resulting in every Dimension “teetering on the brink of annihilation.” Players will take on the role of a young Dimensional tasked with “rescuing stranded allies and rebuilding the Dimensional army to defeat the Specter King once and for all.”

The gameplay emphasizes strategy, encouraging players to think of new ways to face puzzles and other challenges on a perilous journey. The roguelike nature of the game ensures that no playthrough is the same. This means that no session will have the same hero skills. So, you will need to take a second to really think about your actions and aim at creating the most combos possible.

I do like this game’s cartoonish/comic book-y art style. Also, one of the characters is named Magmama. I’m already sold!

The card game mechanic seems easy enough to understand. The cards you will get will impact your character’s skills. Certain cards will provide passive stat boosts. Apparantly, there are 300 skill cards for players to discover.

As for the soundtrack, it’s by legendary composer Brad Breek (Gravity Falls). It’s supposed to remind you of the catchy theme songs from Saturday Morning Cartoons.

You can go ahead and Wishlist Dimensionals right now on Steam. Again, the playtest will be held on July 10, 2024. More information can be read at the game’s official website (https://www.dimensionals.com/).

As for Mino Games, it is a Montreal-based studio focusing on character-driven IP. The studio has developed more than 3000 original characters throughout a bunch of titles, such as Mino Monsters and Cat Game.

An official release date for Dimensionals hasn’t been released yet, as far as I can tell. However, the planned release date is sometime in 2024.
