“Stranger Things” Finale: 5 Story Points I Want To Happen

As we creep ever closer to the final season of Stranger Things, my wife and I rewatched the entire series because it’s awesome and to remind us of all the details we may have forgotten. With that being said, we both pointed out a few things that need to happen.
In no particular order, except the first one, here are 5 story points we need answers to or see happen during the final season of Stranger Things. If you, like me, have even more points to discuss, please share your thoughts in the comments below.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
1 – Henry/001/Vecna VS. Jane/011/El

We all know this fight is coming. And I think all of us are pretty sure Eleven is going to win. That is not why it is #1 on my list. Let me explain.
During the Battle of Starcourt Mall, Billy, speaking for the Mindflayer, tells Eleven that they had built this army and monster for her. We didn’t learn in season 4 that Eleven is the one who sent Henry into the Upside Down, and he is the one controlling the Mindflayer. So, the fight that is coming between the two of them feels like the Final Boss fight of your favorite video game.
It’s not the fight that I want a resolution to; that’s going to happen. What I want is the WAY the fight happens and HOW Eleven is going to win.
Vecna fears Eleven, and he wants her power for himself. He’s like Smith from The Matrix. Whoever he kills, he absorbs their knowledge and power. I don’t want Eleven to sacrifice like Neo to defeat Vecna from the inside.
I want Eleven to win with the power of love.
Cheesy? Maybe. But throughout the entire series, Eleven has been better when she had her friends and new family by her side. I envision her standing side by side with Hopper again, but adding Mike, Nancy, Steve, Dustin, and the rest, using science and Eleven’s powers to take Vecna down.
Vecna has no one.
Eleven has everyone.
We need to have the Hawkins Crew come together to defeat Vecna.
2 – Hopper and Joyce get to live out their lives in peace

Listen, do I think everyone is going to make it through the whole season? Nope. And at the top of my list to fall is Jim Hopper.
That does mean I don’t want to see Joyce and Hop sipping coffee on the front deck of his cabin at the end? Damn right I do. They have both been through so much, and they both deserve a happy ending. Joyce going all the way to Russia to help him escape showed how much she really cared for him.
At the end of season 4 of Stranger Things, we were not shown them finally going on that date to Enzo’s. We all want to see them eating way too many breadsticks and finishing off several bottles of Chianti.
I want to be wrong that Hopper will not survive the Battle of Hawkins, and I want to see him and Joyce finally being happy, but I don’t see it happening. Duffers love to break our hearts.
3 – Everyone move out of Hawkins!

In the first season, a boy going missing in the woods is something that would happen. But then there was Barb, the two hunters, and you know those scientists who were attacked in the very first scene live in and around Hawkins. All of that could be written off by most people.
Seasons two through four, however, there is way too much for me to stick around that little town. I don’t care how much I loved it there; I would be out. I always question the residents of Gotham sticking it out there when everything is so bad. Same with Hawkins.
At the end of season 4, they did show some people fleeing Hawkins because of the “earthquake”, but that was the final straw? Come on, people. I’m looking at you, Wheelers.
I need the town to be quarantined and off limits like Chernobyl. It would be fitting for a show set in the 1980s.
4 – Nancy needs to pick a boy and stick with the decision

In a perfect world, Nancy Wheeler would be able to be with both Jonathan and Steve, but that is something that today’s “modern” world has a hard time accepting, let alone the 1980s.
Steve Harrington’s redemption arc is something that needs to be studied and taught in schools. He has gone from pretty boy, douchebag to action hero babysitter. We have all fallen in love with him over the series, and we all want him to get the girl in the end. He has earned it.
But on the other hand, Jonathan Byers has also shown himself to be a really good guy. Sure, he’s not the action hero version that Steve is, but he listens to what Nancy is saying and needing, and is one of the most supportive men we have seen on the scene. Sure, not always, but he is always working towards better, and that has to count for something.
Nancy needs to pick one. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be Jonathan, seeing that Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton have been in a relationship in real life since the first season. So my money is on Jonathon.
The throuple, though, let the fanfics run wild.
5 – Will Byers gets freed of everything

Will have been through it. Full stop.
And then you add his feelings for Mike and his sexuality, the poor kid needs a win.
Of all the characters in the series, he’s the one I want to see make it through the most. He needs to be able to live out his life in peace, without the Vecna or the Mindflayer lurking over him.
We need to see him happy, maybe in Chicago or New York, living his best life with his boyfriend and maybe a dog and a much better haircut. It needs to be the final shot of the series.
Stranger Things started with The Vanishing of Will Byers; it needs to end with Will being happy.

Like I said before, I have a much longer list.
Debuting November 26, 2025, with four episodes on Netflix, do tell us what you would like to see happen in Stranger Things season 5.
