Death Stranding Plot Details Announced

Death Stranding

Death Stranding, the notoriously vague but visually stunning game with an all-star cast, finally has had some real plot details released.  Creator Hideo Kojima posted a story summary on Twitter.

Part of the appeal of Death Stranding for me is how vague and weird it is, so I haven’t exactly been complaining at the lack of plot details.  Still, Kojima has heard fandom’s confusion and tweeted out the following.

People have built “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation.

“DEATH STRANDING” is a completely new type of action game, where the player’s goal is to reconnect isolated cities and fragmented society.  All elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the them of “Strand,” or connection.

As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to “Bridge” these divisions, and in doing so, create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe.  Through your experienceplaying the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.

That clears up some things, but it’s still trippy and confusing.  But I’m totally down with trippy and confusing.  It’s why I’m here.  The absurdity of having taking a pee be an important part of gameplay and whatever is going on with the babies promises that we’ll be entertained by the sheer weirdness of it all if nothing else.  And for the casual gamer like myself, there’s even going to be a super easy mode so we don’t miss out on the adventure because our skills aren’t up to par.

There should be even more news about Death Stranding on the way very shortly as there is expected to be a 49 minute video released at the Tokyo Game Show tomorrow.  I’m eager to see what new weirdness is headed our way now.  That’s a lot of footage to sort through.
