Creative Beast Studio and Complexly announced that they have launched a BackerKit funding campaign for a new line of mammoths inspired by the YouTube series PBS Eons. The figures will feature a scientifically realistic build, be handpainted, and have articulation. I’m excited!

We have covered products (dinosaurs from the ‘Beasts of the Mesozoic’ series) from Creative Beast Studio before so we know that the upcoming mammoth line will be high quality too.

In order to make the new line, Eons and Complexly partnered with veteran toy designer and creator of Creative Beast Studio David Silva. His experience includes Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Terminator 2, Aliens, and more.

The extinct proboscideans (elephants and their close relatives) in the series will be 1/18th scale and scientifically accurate. Making them a great get for numerous collectors. The current partnership has Silva moving from the Mesozoic era to the Cenozoic era.

There is enthusiastic demand for high quality, realistic action figures of extinct fauna, and it’s an honor to work with PBS Eons and Complexly to create the first proboscidean action figure line of my career,” shared Silva. “With these woolly mammoths, we’re transporting the engaging, educational content from Eons directly into the hands and hearts of viewers. Built using data from the latest scientific discoveries and painted with colors inspired by modern-day creatures living in similar environments, we know that fans will love this line of prehistoric proboscideans.”

Talking about the details of the BackerKit campaign, the initial goal is $185,000 (USD). As of writing this, the campaign has been able to close to $38,000 USD from more than 180 backers. The campaign will conclude on October 3, 2024. So, the chances of it reaching the goal are high.

The initial release will include two all-new wooly mammoth action figures. An adult male and a calf. More figures will be revealed during the stretch goals. The upcoming figures include the Gomphotherium, the Platybelodon, and the Moeritherium.

The adult wooly mammoth will cost you $200. The baby wooly mammoth is $35. The “Snowy Set” version can be purchased as a bundle for $225.

The expected shipping date for the figures will be mid 2025.

Designed by famed paleoartist Ross Persichetti, and sculpted by Jun Huang, the 1/18th Scale Adult Wooly Mammoth will be 14 inches long (11 inches long without the tusks), 9 inches high, and with 24 points of articulation. Each figure will include three sets of interchangeable tusks, adult-male, adult-female, and battle-damaged.

The articulation seems to be at the neck, shoulders, hips, knees, waist, jaw, ankles, and trunk.

Designed and sculpted by Persichetti, the 1/18th scale baby wooly mammoth will have 18 points of articulation. It will stand 2.5 inches high and 3.5 inches long.

The articulation seems to be at the neck, the shoulders, hips, knees, and trunk.

For those interested, the mammoth being featured is the Mammuthus primigenius, one of the last species of mammoth that lived on Earth. It stood 13 feet tall and is considered to have co-exist with humans. They were the same size as modern African elephants. However, their ears were smaller and they had a wooly coat to stay warm in North American and Siberian climates.

As far as my opinion goes, I want these figures! I want the entire line!
