Fans looking forward to playing the upcoming game Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed will also be able to buy The Collector’s Edition come October 18, 2022.

The Ghostbusters Spirits Unleased Collector’s Edition will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox One. The Collector’s Edition includes a replica case of Tobin’s Spirit Guide along with an exclusive poster, stickers, and even a display stand.

Not only that but a bunch of in-game goodies are included, too. You will also gain Advance Access to the Basher Ghost, a rare Ectoplast Skin, Ghostbusters RTV Kit Ghost Trap, and a special PKE Meter.

You can go ahead and pre-order the Collector’s Edition right now for $69.99.

As for the game itself, from developer IllFonic, this title has been described as an action-packed 4vs1 offering. The gameplay allows for solo or online multiplayer sessions. You can play as part of a Ghostbusters team or as the Ghost.

As a Ghostbuster, you will have the ability to use iconic items and gears from the beloved franchise such as PKE Meters, Proton Packs, and Ghost Traps. While playing as a Ghost, you will have access to a range of supernatural abilities. For example, sliming and being able to possess objects.

Progressing through the game will unlock cosmetics and upgrades for the Ghost as well as for the Ghostbusters to further enrich the gameplay. New story elements and scenes will also be unlocked. Be ready to meet characters such as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.

As for the settings, the Firehouse will serve as the player hub where you can personalize equipment and even target practice. You will need to explore Ray’s Occult Bookstore to enter the Ghost Realm where you can customize your Ghost.

The game has been rated E10+ by the ESRB, which means it is for everyone above the age of 10.

Here’s the gameplay trailer!

I like the cartoonish visuals and that the human characters seem capable of talking to each other (which is a beneficial feature to have during solo sessions). Playing as the Ghost comes across as the most fun, in my opinion. I smiled at how the possessed trash bag moved. Also, along with attacking the Ghostbusters, the Ghost seems to have the objective to successfully haunt a place and scare away civilians. There’s a lot of potential here.

Coming to IllFonic, the indie video game developer was founded in 2007 with studios in Lakewood, CO; Tacoma, WA; and Austin, TX. Some of the titles and collaborations include Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Friday the 13th: The Game.

The Collector’s Edition is being distributed by Nighthawk Interactive (IllFonic’s physical partner).

Talking about the Ghostbusters franchise in other types of media, 2021 saw the release of the live-action Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Starring Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, the film went on to gross more than $200 million at the global box office against an approximate production budget of $75 million. A sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is supposed to be released in December 2023. So, yes, to this franchise still going.
