Halle Berry Announces a Bunch of Movies and TV Shows!

Oscar winner Halle Berry decided to celebrate the new year by announcing a slate of projects, including movies and TV shows, for her fans to look forward to. This particular news comes just in time, with the Hollywood icon busy promoting her upcoming movie Crime 101.
If there’s one thing Halle Berry knows how to do, it’s finding a way to stay busy. Whether it’s to do with starring in movies or advocating for women experiencing menopause, Berry’s always upto something. However, even as a fan who has followed her content for decades, I wasn’t expecting Berry to up the ante in such a manner.
Shared by Deadline, Berry and Holly Jeter’s HalleHolly has a slate that includes 6 movies and 3 TV shows. Of course, I will be talking about each potential project. So, let’s get started!
The Films
With Berry’s next starring role being the feature movie Fleur (written and directed by Ellie Foumbi), you can expect the cameras to begin rolling this March. From what I know, the dramatic narrative follows Berry’s character, who escapes to Paris after being a housewife for 30 years. You will get to see the character transform herself into an elite escort and dominatrix.
It’s supposedly a major award play for Berry. So, fingers crossed it’s able to garner the attention she and the creative team are hoping for.
Coming to the newly announced projects, we have action-thriller The President Is Missing, based on the novel by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. Set up at Apple last year, it’s being written for the big screen by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and David Chasteen (CIA). Of course, with Berry playing the lead character named President Joanna Duncan, it’s a gender-swapped take on the source material.
The story is about the President Duncan having to elude her own secret service, escape the White House, and do what only she can to save the world from a massive threat.
Having wanted to see Berry do comedy again, there’s Bad Cop, Bad Cop, which, along with Berry, will also star Fortune Feimster and Jillian Bell. Written by Feimster, James Lee Freeman, and Brian Jarvis (Ricky Stanicky), it will be directed by Kay Cannon.
The plot involves “two inept beat cops” named Molly (Bell) and Devon (Feimster) being “taken under the wing of a bada**” detective (who will be played by Berry). Molly and Devon will be put through a lot during a “ride along of their lives.”
The third movie project is The Boy Who Knew Too Much. Based on a 2017 memoir by Cathy Byrd about her son, Christian Haupt. It’s being adapted by Molly McAlpine (Cocaine Godmother). McAlpine will also serve as a producer with HalleHolly.
The narrative is a true story of Christian Haupt displaying “an uncanny knowledge of baseball and vivid memories of a past life as Lou Gehrig, a famous Yankee.” The plot involves Byrd trying to understand the mysterious surrounding reincarnation.
A neo-noir psychological thriller, Sunburn is being adapted from Laura Lippman’s book from 2018 by Michelle Dean. Berry will star in the project, being directed by Liz Garbus. The story is about a mother (Berry) walking out on her family. What follows is the audience learning this isn’t the first time she has vanished. This woman has a past, secrets, baggage, and a bunch of enemies seeking revenge. Millions of dollars and a murder are involved. Berry does well with psychological stuff. So, yay to this!
Talking about another comedy, we have the movie Family Swap. This one is based on Gaumont’s 2021 French film Le Sens de la famille directed by Jean-Patrick Benes. A US-adapted version is being penned by Ben Wexler, with Berry set to lead.
As the title states, you can expect a whole lot of body swapping. The family in question includes a father, mother, two moody teenagers, and a “tempestuous” child. However, things change for the family unit when they experience body swapping occurring repeatedly every morning. The narrative will explore “generational differences, intra-marital conflicts, raging hormones, and professional anxieties.”
Another project that has darkness to it, we have Parole Officer, which is based on a script by Michael McGrale that was on the Black List. Berry will play a mysterious woman who seduces and then proceeds to blackmail a parolee into committing numerous crimes. The catch? Berry’s character is the individual’s parole officer! Talk about twisted! I want it now!
The TV Projects
In the TV space, there’s Zero F*s, which is being described as a comedy about women being encouraged to accept their second act in life. For Peacock, the show stars three women (one of them being portrayed by Berry), who are “dealing with midlife BS” and are “forced to solve a murder of a friend they couldn’t stand.”
With Berry doing a lot of activism involving menopause, I can see why this particular project caught her interest.
Over on HBO, we have The Patient. It’s based on a novella by Jasper DeWitt. This is supposed to be a psychological horror romp about an ambitious young psychiatrist who decides to take on a tough patient, Josephine Todd (Berry), as a way to make a name for himself. However, things start getting out of hand as the psychiatrist’s own sanity gets risked. With Berry attached, this is another gender-swapped take on the source material.
Mother Doom will be on FX. It’s based on Sean Lewis’ short story about a woman named Riley. A retired Special Forces personnel for twenty years, she’s forced to tap into her experience to seek revenge after her son is killed in the line of duty. Berry will reportedly play Riley.
While I’m excited about seeing Berry star or be part of these interesting projects, I have to be realistic. Announcing projects doesn’t guarantee production and release when it comes to Hollywood. Also, I have danced such a dance before with Berry. A handful of her projects never saw the light of day over the decades. That’s why, even though I’m excited, I’m also being cautious about which of the announced titles will hit the big and smallscreens soon.
What’s certain is that the upcoming action thriller Crime 101 will be released in theatres come February 13, 2026. Starring Berry, Chris Hemsword, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan, I will be sure to share my thoughts about it.
Are you excited to watch Crime 101? Which of Berry’s upcoming projects are you looking forward to watching?
