Limited Edition Holiday Hellboy Announced By Mantic Games
Mantic Games has announced a special, limited edition Holiday Hellboy miniature to accompany the upcoming Hellboy board game. Holiday Hellboy is a handmade, “high quality” resin gaming piece which is based on the artwork drawn by Mike Mignola.
Mantic Games has worked with Dark Horse Comics and “visionary creator” Mike Mignola to create the Holiday Hellboy piece. You can go ahead and order it right now (until the end of December) from participating Mantic stockists and direct from Mantic Games.
After being designed by a digital sculptor, each Holiday Hellboy will be “painstakingly handcrafted” by the resin team at Mantic HQ in Nottingham, UK.
“Following the huge success of the Hellboy: The Board Game Kickstarter earlier this year, we really wanted to celebrate with something cool and unique,” said Ronnie Renton, Mantic Games, CEO. “When we came across this piece of amazing artwork, we just knew we had to get it sculpted and made. Making it available in superb quality resin will capture the wonderful quality of Mike Mignola’s artwork perfectly.”
The Holiday Hellboy will measure approximately 7cm tall. It will come unpainted and requires assembly. Furthermore, the set also comes with an exclusive B.P.R.D. Agent card for use in Hellboy: The Board Game.
As for the board game, it is due for release in 2019. The Hellboy: The Board Game is a “co-operative experience” in which players face off against some of the comic’s most famous foes. Up to four people take control of iconic B.R.P.D. members – Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, and Johann Kraus – before “exploring gothic locations, uncovering ancient artifacts and battling one of Hellboy’s most notorious foes, Rasputin!”
For those who don’t know, in the nine years since launch, Mantic Games has released several complete tabletop gaming systems including Kings of War, DeadZone, Mars Attacks, and DreadBall. The team’s obsession “for making detailed miniatures, simple but challenging games and great value-for-money products has seen Mantic become a global presence in the tabletop gaming arena.”
A live-action Hellboy film starring Milla Jovovich and David Harbour is set for an April 12, 2019 release.
