For Those Who Care, Tickets For “New Mutants” Are Now Available
It looks like the ill-fated New Mutants will FINALLY be released on August 28, 2020. For those who care, tickets for the last installment in Fox’s long-running X-Men movie series are now available.
The constant delays that the New Mutants film has faced have been, understandably, turned into online memes. There are still some people who doubt the upcoming mutant-centric flick will be able to play in theatres even on the current August 28, 2020, release date. Well, we will get to find out soon enough.
Anyway, if you have been meaning to watch this film, you can go ahead and book your tickets. It’s clear that Disney (after acquiring Fox) doesn’t really care about this movie. Certain titles have been playing in cinemas, regardless of the current pandemic. And while the Canadian box office recently showed some promise, there are concerns the US domestic box office might not show the results studios are looking for.
As far as my opinion goes, Disney will be using New Mutants to observe whether or not people are interested in going to see a big-budget superhero film right now. The House of Mouse has already decided to put the live-action adaptation of Mulan on the Disney+ streaming service (available after paying an early-access fee).
The performance of New Mutants will help studios determine what they should do with their release schedule. Will Warner Bros. delay Wonder Woman 1984 again? Do you think Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will stick to the current September 3, 2020, release date? Again, we can make some predictions once the numbers for New Mutants come in.
To try and hype up some interest, here’s a newly released video featuring the cast explaining the upcoming film in 60 seconds.
New Mutants has been directed and co-written by Josh Boone. It stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga. For those interested, apparently there’s going to be a queer romance between Williams’ character Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane and Hunt’s Danielle Moonstar/Mirage.
Are you willing to go out to watch New Mutants or will you wait for it hit streaming?
