Fans of the Resident Evil live-action movies starring Milla Jovovich can look forward to owning the entire series in 4K Ultra HD when the collection releases in a limited edition steelbook form come November 21, 2023.

While I understand that the live-action Resident Evil movies aren’t the best and they took a whole lot of liberties with the source material, I can’t help but be a fan. I liked watching the RE movies when I was a lot younger, and I’m still into watching them. They are nonsensical. Filled with action. And camp. What’s not to love?

Courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, the upcoming limited edition steelbook release will include all 6 movies which are Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evi: Afterlife (2010), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2017).

Take note; the 4K UHD of the films means they are presented at 2160p Ultra High Definition resolution with Dolby Vision. However, the aspect ratios vary.

As for the 4K UHD audio, it’s Dolby Atmos immersive audio + DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio tracks (DTS-HD MA 7.1 for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter).

The Blu-ray features a presentation at 1080p High Definition resolution; aspect ratios and audio configurations vary.

Debuting back in 2002, the RE film series concluded in 2017 and was able to gross more than $1.2 billion at the global box office.

TPTB tried to revive the live-action franchise with a movie reboot titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City in November 2021 and a Resident Evil Netflix series in July 2022, but both projects failed to be successful.

I wonder if Sony Pictures will try to bring back Jovovich for another installment to revive the franchise. Hmmm.

Let’s see.

Anyway, are you excited about the RE 4K UHD Limited Edition Steelbook collection?
