“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” 4K UHD Release (PR/Sony Pictures Home Entertainment)

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available to fans on Digital come August 8, 2023. The 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release will follow on September 5, 2023. And yes, the upcoming home release is said to contain more than 90 minutes of extra content!

Serving as the direct sequel to the Oscar-winning 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the highly-enjoyable Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse follows Miles Morales getting to reunite with Gwen Stacey and having his world expand even more as he gets to meet a whole team of Spider-People charged with protecting reality across numerous dimensions.

However, things grow intense when Miles takes a stand against Miguel O’Hara while a dangerous foe named the Spot is bent on taking revenge against our young hero.

I really liked watching SP: AtSV. And as far as my opinion goes, I will not be surprised if the series wins another Oscar.

Here’s the extra content accompanying the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and Digital release:

  • Obscure Spiders and Easter Eggs
  • Deleted Scene: Miguel Calling
  • “I’mma Do My Own Thing” Interdimensional Destiny
  • Across the Worlds: Designing New Dimensions
  • Designing Spiders and Spots
  • Scratches, Score and The Music of the Multiverse
  • Escape from Spider-Society
  • Across the Comics-Verse
  • Lyric Videos
  • Filmmaker Commentary
  • Creating the Ultimate Spider-Man Movie
  • Raising a Hero
  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Cast

The extra material on the DVD will be:

  • Creating the Ultimate Spider-Man Movie
  • Raising a Hero
  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Cast

I am so here for the filmmaker’s commentary feature. I want every home release to include one!

Take note; the Blu-ray and DVD will include a digital code for the movie as well as the bonus materials. The code will be redeemable via Movies Anywhere for a limited time.

Based on Marvel Comics, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson. It was written by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, and David Callaham.

The cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, and Karan Soni, with Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali, and Oscar Isaac.

The runtime comes in at approximately 140 minutes and the animated feature has been rated PG for sequences of Animated Action Violence, Some Language, and Thematic Elements.

As for the specs, the 4K UHD features 2160p Ultra High Definition/2.39:1 with the Audio being English Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 compatible).

The Blu-ray is 1080p High Definition/2.39:1 with the Audio being English 5.1 DTS-HD MA. And the DVD is 2.39:1 Anamorphic Widescreen.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released on June 2, 2023, in the US. As of writing this, it has managed to collect more than $682 million at the global box office against a reported production budget of $100 million.

A follow-up to SP: AtSV titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been confirmed. But it has been put on hold due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike (which The Geekiary supports!).
