Indie game studio Baby Robot Games (such a good name!) is proud to announce that their debut title Ereban: Shadow Legacy will be released on Steam and the Epic Games Store come April 10, 2024.

As someone who always has an eye out for interesting indie games to share with you all, I’m glad to learn about Ereban: Shadow Legacy. The way you can make the main character travel and attack via shadows looks very cool to me. One of my favorite DC Comics characters is Raven. So, of course, such a game has me intrigued.

The upcoming video game has been promoted as a fast-paced, story-driven stealth platformer. However, unlike most indie stealth games, this one will offer a third-person perspective along with a shadow merging mechanic also called the Shadow Merge. It will allow the main character Ayana an “extraordinary level of mobility”, allowing players to undergo stealth missions in a variety of ways.

The game has been inspired by Metal Gear, Splatoon, Aragami, and Assassin’s Creed. From what I have seen in the trailer, you can detect the inspiration, especially when it comes to Splatoon and Aragami.

Set in a sci-fi world, the premise deals with Ayana trying to uncover deep secrets. She’s the last descendant of the Ereban race (a community of people with the power to merge and roam freely within the shadows). The story will unravel the “enigmatic connection between the cryptic energy megacorporation Helios and the Ereban.” As players progress through the story, they will be able to combine Ayana’s Shadow Merge abilities with high-tech gadgets.

When we started this adventure 5 years ago, we couldn’t imagine that what started as a love letter to stealth games would grow this much and turn into such a solid project. It has been a long and difficult journey, pandemic included, but after a lot of love and effort we are finally here. It is a dream come true that this is going to be our first game for many of us. We really hope you enjoy it, and can’t wait for you to become one with the shadows on April 10th!” shared Alejandro Marquez (Game Director at Baby Robot Games).

Here’s the trailer!

For a debut video game, Ereban: Shadow Legacy actually looks good. There seems to be the right balance between stealth and action gameplay elements. It looks like along with being able to travel through shadows, Ayana can also teleport others through shadows as well. That’s going to come in handy when getting rid of enemy bodies or other evidence of your presence.

Also, if I understood the press release correctly, Ayana’s decisions when it comes to avoiding or killing opponents will have an impact on the overall narrative. I like player choices changing the story in some manner. It allows for more replayability.

I hope this game is received well.

You will be able to purchase Ereban: Shadow Legacy on April 10, 2024, on Steam and the Epic Games Store. For those interested, you can go ahead and Wishlist the game on Steam right now.

More information is available on the game’s official website, www.ereban.com.

I’m not sure yet, but I’ll look into playing it if my current schedule allows.

Until then, feel free to share your thoughts with us.
